Default Did my fingernails last night and was wondering

How many of us take the time and effort to 'keep ourselves up'? I saw Oprah once and she said that it takes time and effort to be healthy and beautiful and I know that's right. I sometimes get lazy about my fingernails although I do like for them to look nice. I always notice a woman's hands and feet.... . During the winter I let my toenails 'rest' from polish but the rest of the year I keep my toes painted as well. I've been trying to do a weekly facial but haven't quite gotten into the swing of that yet. I know how to do all of these things frugally and use what I have at home so it's not a huge expense, but could be I guess if you had to start from scratch. I've got nail polish that I've had for literally decades and when it gets a little thick I'll add some nail polish thinner (you can get it at beauty supply for not much) and it will make it like new again.

Who likes to 'beautify' every now and then? Who makes it a ritual?

I'm a low maintenance kinda lady. I never paint my fingernails and my toenails get done about 4 times a year. Don't do facials and rarely wear perfume. I do get a hair cut prob twice a year, shower, shave, use lotion-sunscreen&deodorant, clip & file my nails and take care of rough/dry skin, lmao.

I have to say, I spend a fair amount of energy on beauty. I wear makeup every day, I do my hair nearly every day. I maintain my nails several times a week, and my toenails are almost always painted. But I don't think I go overboard.

I don't paint the nails or the toenails.

I always put on makeup, just the basics, unless I'm going out. ANd I always wear Vera Wang perfume.

I do my nails on occasion but that's not on my list of things to do on a daily basis. I do put on makeup when I go out but sometimes just a little foundation and some blush but nothing much unless we're going to a party/birthday/etc...

I must admit I am a high-end makeup person, but I usually swap with a friend or 2 or I have bought a makeup lot or 2 off ebay but not in a long while.

I guess it depends on what I am doing. If I am cleaning, no nails the polish just chips.

Yep, just about every other Sunday evening dd and I do maintenance grooming. Things get waxed or plucked, cut, pasted or painted. It is such a wonderful time spent with dd. Even under some protest we have been known to give the men around here a facial.

I don't do much on the days I stay home. Curl my bangs so they're not in my eyes, moisturize my face, and apply lotion to my hands & feet a couple of times a day. If I'm going out or to work I wear a little make-up (foundation & blush, maybe mascara).

I do my nails about every two weeks-- I wear very light colored polish, so chips don't show when they happen. I used to keep my nails long and painted bright colors, but now they're short and light and much easier to maintain.

I do a facial about once a month- my favorite is a cucumber peel-off mask, but I've tried various homemade recipes, too.

I try to wash my face with moisturizing soap and put on face cream every night. My skin is much smoother for it. I also try to moisturize every night after my shower.

I wear makeup when I think of it, mostly to emphasize my eyes. I never wear blush, and I wear perfume often, as I love the scent.

I don't wear a lot of make-up products because there have been many that are linked to known carscinogens (sp? chemicals that can possibly cause cancer) and I don't like to get anywhere close to something like that.

Yep, parabens & phthalates. You can read about it HERE.

If you read the ingredients you'll notice though that even most shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and facewashes have these. Check out your stuff, you'll be surprised.

If you're really concerned, there are companies who do not include these in their products: Here is a list.

sometimes i wear make up, but so many people comment about it in shock and surprise that i feel self consious about it.

I'm actually starting a new (more professional job) so I'm doing more make-up lately. It's nice to wear it. I do feel better wearing make-up. My hair is pretty low maintenance and I love my nails painted but I only do it on occasion. Oh, and I love a pedicure more than diet coke!

Pedicures are better than diet coke... pedicures are better than cheesecake!!! LOL!!!
If you've never had a pedicure, trust me, indulge!! At first I was really self conscious because I think feet are ugly, especially mine, but let them soak and massage your feet for a few minutes and you could have monster feet for all you care.

I do the normal shower, shampoo, moisturize with cocoa butter lotion. Not too meticulous about exfoliating though with my super-dry skin I should be.
I don't wear much make up, just a bit of translucent powder maybe, some eyeliner to make my eyes look bigger and some lipgloss.
I love to wear cologne/spray, even if it's from the dollar store. I used to have gorgeous long acrylic nails but my frugal-ness no longer allows me the $15 every two weeks and $30 every two months... but the urge is still there... LOL.

I do a manicure once a week....pedicure about every two weeks. I don't polish my toenails during the winter months, but from spring thru fall I do. I do my best to take care of my skin and hair. I color my hair once a month and also deep condition it once a week. I use an exfoliant on my face everyday and always make sure to moisturize both my face and body. Even if I'm not leaving the house I usually always have a little makeup on... it just makes me feel good about me I also usually put on a little perfume everyday. Right now my favorite it Hypnose by Lancome. It's one of my few indulgences.
