Default Dh is home from the hospital

First, I would like to thank all of you for your prayers, but we still are in need of them. It is a been a rough time. Dh had emergency surgery on his back, spent almost 5 days in the hospital in Pittsburgh, but is now home. He had 2 discs removed that were ruptured and they left a bulged disc in. He had an extremely large fragment pressing on his nerve. He had complications with fever, vomiting, oxgen, and blood pressure. He is out of the intense pain, but his right leg has lost a large amount of muscle and strength. He is still dragging his leg and walking crooked. No one knows right now if there will be permanent damage, time will tell. He goes back to the doctors next Thursday, and we already know there will be lots of physical therapy ahead for him. I am thankful that he is home, and out of intense pain. I will worry about the medical bills later. All of this stress has made me sick to my stomach, and I have lost 10 lbs. A poopy way to lose weight, please continue to pray for our family, I will keep you all updated on his recovery. Again thanks for being good friends. Traci

So glad it's over for him (the surgery) Traci. I had back surgery about 14 years ago too. I was almost paralyzed from my knees down and it was moving upward quickly. After the surgery my right leg was weak and I had drop toe and walked with a bad limp for a long time. I did my own rehab at home and after a year you couldn't tell I had had so much trouble until I got really tired. Now, after so long when I really work hard I still sometimes get a squeezing feeling around my right ankle but all else is good. Tell him to keep his chin up and start working that leg a little at a time. Just sitting with it lifted in the air when he's in a chair for a few minutes will help strengthen it.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~
