    Default Nurse question...

what can cause a false positive on a oral glucose tolerance test? my results have been 124, 125 and 127 each time i have had them done.

Also, anyone know where to find a free meter and test strips? no insurance. Doc's office gave me a list and most require insurance or to buy a certain number of months worth of strips, or an age limit. Getting frustrated.

a decreased glucose uptake will cause a false-positive test result even if the mechanisms for insulin and glucose control are actually working as they should be... you aren't pregnant are you??

as far as testing supplies, unfortunately, most places only want to deal with insurance companies, but... you can try the town hall health department. if you talk to the nurse there, he/she may be able to give you a list of places, or even be able to supply them. They do provide some free care.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!
