Anyone else working on weight loss and fitness?
I thought that if anyone else was working on these two specific goals that maybe we could use a thread to touch base and cheer each other on.
I need to re lose about 30 lbs. I follow a lower/moderate carb diet due to diabetes. I had my scale hidden by the family until the end of may.
I sure didn't do so hot over the weekend eating well! I allow myself a free day every other weekend but I didn't contain it to a day.
On a good note though I exercise 2 days in a row.
Any others out there?~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

Most members working on weight loss are on our sister site at http://www.weightlossmoms.com/forums

Weight has been a constant battle with me. So I will gladly enjoy the company of others. I count points on and off and drop pounds when I can but they climb back on because I am so inconsistant with my exercise. I would love to have a work out routine and thought about Curves, but they are pricey and tend to be closed in the middle of the day - which is when I could most likely do a 30 min workout.
I try to eat well and eat healthy... but last night I resorted to eating stale icecream wafers because there was nothing else in the house! LOL. I don't buy junk foods and don't make cookies or cakes except on rare occasions. But with baking bread 1-2 times a week... there are lots of available carbs that I need to eas up on.
Time for me to buckle down and exercise... I usually eat less when I consistantly get my butt moving.
edit: I have checked out the weightlossmoms and found there is not a lot of daily activity on it. I will gladly meet others there and start posting if it is more appropriate.Last edited by Ceashels; 05-01-2007 at 09:05 AM.

There's not much activity because people keep posting weight loss/fitness here.
We're working toward streamlining FV, so it remains primarily on frugality. This is why the sister sites have splintered off. We've taken the most popular topics that were not frugality based and created the new sites.
I'll be moving the health forum there too. It makes more sense there than here since the topics are never frugal health topics. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. I am in the same boat. Two years ago my doc told me to lose about 15 pounds. Unfortunately I have added another 20 to it. I am trying to watch my portions and snacking between meals. I have only lost 5 in the past two months but I haven't been exercising like I had planned. The weather is getting better so there won't be that excuse!

Thanks. I know it seems I'm always chiming in like the warden, but there's a method to the madness and it's how we continue to be a great resource on frugality here.
I completely understand that some people simply don't have time to be checking multiple forums and whatnot or don't feel the other forums are active enough.
It's just the focus needs to remain primarily frugality over here or the forums will become too diluted and will become more of a general forum and I don't want that.
Same holds true on topics such as cleaning and decluttering and homesteading and gardening. Unless there's a frugal flair to posts, they should be posted on homekeeping101.com/forums and homesteadgarden.com/forumsIf you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. Frugal thoughts on weightloss and exercise ...walking is always free.
In the retirment community where my mil used to work at the office, the ladies got together weekly to workout, they used canned food for weights. To get more steps in I park in the way back of parking lots when I have to go to the store, and when I get home I don't load my arms with packages, I carry in just a couple so I have to make multiple trips. I have also been known to park in the back of the house, and walk around and use the front door. I started my journey to a healthier me June 2006, I have gone from 263 pounds to 189 with these little changes. Another one if you have a toddler, lay on floor, have kid sit on your feet, hold hands and lift child up with your legs, really works those thigh muscles...and you get some exercise while playing with your child.Challenges
