My dad had heart surgery
Sunday I received a call from my stepmom telling me that my dad was in the hospital and if he wouldn't have gotten there when he did he would be dead now. He had a heart attack. She then proceeded to say that he was going to have surgery again. Ten years ago he had bypass surgery. His dr. said they usually last about ten years, but now he shouldn't have to have any more. They weren't able to do the surgery Mon., but kept him in ICU hooked up to a machine that made sure his heart kept beating. On Tuesday morning they took him down for surgery at 6:30 am and didn't call us back in for consultation until almost 5 pm. Whew! What a long day it was, sitting and waiting! Everything went well. They replaced his heart valve with a cow vavle because it was 2/3rds closed and within a few months they said he would have died. They then proceeded to do a triple bypass. So the surgery went well, but today I went up to visit and he is running a temp. They aren't sure if he now has an infection or if it is from the stress his body went through with the surgery. I am praying that he will be fine.
I feel like my body is in overdrive. I am dealing with the stress of DH being away on business, my dad in the hospital, college finals, and DS#1 away at bootcamp. I have been stressing over flight schedules, car rentals, and hotel reservations for next week for DS#1's graduation. I have put out way more than I ever wanted on this 4 day trip to see him graduate, but I keep telling myself it is worth it and will only happen once. $1800 for airline tickets for 5, $411 for hotel reservations for 3 nights, and $335 for car rental fees is about to zap out my savings. The only good thing about it is none of it has went on credit cards. None of this includes food and extras while there. I think I better get a second job!
Now, back to my dad. I seem to ramble on about everything right now. I know in my heart he will be ok!!~*Michelle*~

Your dad and your family are in my prayers.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

I know how you're feeling. 9 years ago I received a call from my stepmom too. She was at the hospital and telling me my dad was scheduled for heart surgery the next morning. My dad is sooooo stubborn. Apparently he'd been having pains in his chest and left arm for two days and never said a word to anyone. It finally got so bad he told my stepmom. Two of his arteries were 90% blocked, one 75% and the forth 50%. Thankfully he is fine now.
You and your dad will be in my thoughts & prayers hon.

Girl, you are on a definite OVERLOAD!!! My goodness, I was cringing just reading your thread. You must be exhausted. It does seem like sometimes life slams us all at once. First, prioity, Dad's well being: sounds like he is in good hands and being taken care of, 2nd priority: getting the arrangements finalized for your trip (sounds like you are already on that one) 3rd priority: DS's gradautaion, 4th priority: Sit down, take a deep breath, drink a glass of cold iced tea,or your favorite beverage, and lean back, shut your eyes, and do relaxing breathing techniques. You sound like you are managing all of the activites well, and just need to relax a bit. It will all work out. I hope I helped some.
taking one day at a time, trying to get rid of debt!!
