I've been using Crest Whitestrips every 6 months for a couple of years now. I've tried the regular, premium and renewal. For me the renewal seems to work the best. I also use Crest whitening rinse everyday.

I used to. A friend of mine who is a dentist made a catty remark, having seen my whitener in my bathroom, that his business is always booming thanks to those products! I asked him what was the safest whitener and he said plain old baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, it just doesn't taste as good (true!) as the commercial ones, but it also doesn't erode the enamel on your teeth the way they do.

Wow! Good tip! Thanks for sharing... I noticed a lot of sensitivity when I used Crest Whitestrips. Stopped using them because of it (I normally have no tooth sensitivity problems so it concerned me). I didn't realize it ate away the enamel! Yikes!!
Can you tell us the amount of baking soda and peroxide to mix? Is it just used in place of toothpaste?
Thanks!

I get my teeth laser whitened at the dentist's office every three years. It costs $300, so it's definitely not frugal. My dentist told me to use Crest Whitestrips every six months in between laser whitenings.

Just about a teaspoon of baking soda and enough peroxide to make a past of it, and yes you just brush your teeth with it. It will fizz, and it doesn't taste very good, but it's not horrible either, and you get used to the fizzing.
