Default This is crazy!! (RX prices)

ARGH! Long story short.... I went to see my Dr last Thursday, I'm on RX meds (Imitrex) for migraines. The last time I was there he gave me a few samples of Axert (another migriane meds). I tried them and they definitely worked better than the Imitrex for me so I asked him for an RX. I got it filled today and it cost me.... ready for this.... $60 for 6 pills!! And I have insurance! That's $10 a friggin' pill!!! Unless I can keep on getting samples from my Dr, I'll probably be going back to Imitrex

Anyone else with sky high RX bills (even with insurance)?

It's crazy! My aunt was telling me yesterday that the pills she took for nausea while undergoing chemo costs $420 for 17 pills. Thankfully though, she has medicare. But $420 for nausea pills! What do people do in this sitation who don't have insurance? Suffer!

I get all the samples my doctor will give me. Hopefully you will be able to get them from your doctor as well.

I'm sorry to hear that! I understand medicines cost money to make and companies need to make a profit, but it seems to have gotten out of hand.

That's pretty much what we had to pay for mom's too.

I think prescription prices are outrageous!! We used to pay $280 a month for 4 prescriptions. I had to put it in the budget so we could afford them and that was with insurance too! I guess peple without insurance suffer. That is ashame!

I have a couple of chronic conditions that require lots of meds. I do have insurance, but it is point of sale. I pay for my meds up front, then file it with the insurance company. I get 80% of non-generic back and 100% of generic back. Our Flex account reimburses me for what insurance does not cover.
Here is my list of what each of my meds cost.

    Med #1: $161 for a 15-20 day supply (non-generic)
    Med #2: $152 for a 25 day supply (non-generic)
    Med #3: $170 for a 30 day supply (non-generic)
    Med #4: $102 for a 30 day supply (non-generic)
    Med #5: $ 52 for a 30 day supply (non-generic)
    Med #6: $ 62 for a 30 day supply (generic)
    Med #7: $ 98 for a 30 day supply (generic)

I do get generic on the meds that have a generic version, but most do not.

Luckily, I just started taking a couple of prescription medications and I did some research and found that Costco has the cheapest prices on meds in my area. I get 100 blood pressure meds for $10 and that is their normal price without using my prescription insurance. You can go to their website and check out their pricing. I'm not sure if Sam's or BJ's has a pharmacy...

Just a thought, might be worth a membership if you save enough on your scripts.

    very sad ~

I was heartbroken one day in the drug store, I was picking up my son's meds & the gentleman in front of me (maybe in his 60's) had to refuse some of his meds because of the cost
If I could have, I would have paid for them - NOONE should ever have to suffer through a condition requiring meds due to not being able to afford the meds -

Thats why people don't take their meds right.......... To strech them out.
Mine cost 2000 a month. My insurance covers it all. When I didn't have insurance I didn't get my meds......... So I ended up in ER.

I have also heard that Costco is GREAT on prescription prices. Worth checking into.

I take Relpax for migraines and without insurance it came out to about $25 a pill. Luckily I have good insurance. I don't know how people without drug coverage can pay for their medications.

Alright, I was really wasn't liking the $40 a month for my DD Flovent and Flonase. After reading all of your post, I think I'll just keep my mouth shut. We do fill our prescriptions at CVS and I have been thinking about switching.
