~That's happened to me too. Usually it will go away if you remove all polish and let the nails air for a few days. You could also try sun bleaching them. Again, no polish. Lemon juice might also brighten them up. ~

The best way is to prevent it in the first place. When I took nail tech classes they said to prevent that bu first laying down a layer of clear coat BEFORE using red or red tinted polishes (but in fact many polish colrs stain as well).
but since it has already happened, I have a frew suggestions:
1. make a paste of baking soda and use that to clean your nails with
2. lemon juice is a good brightener as well.
I would steer clear of any cleaning chemicals entirely.
Would you be opposed to using a tinted clear polish to "mask" with? You can readily find clears that have a tint or even some lite glimmery effect clear coats.~~ Missy ~~

Thanks for the tips. I think I have a lemon that I am going to try tonight. Missy, I may have to take your advice and paint them with a clear that is tinted. I feel like everyone is looking at them like I don't wash my feet. LOL

I always put a clear coat under my polish, but sometimes the dark pinks I use still get my toenails a little yellowy. I just buff them a bit and it seems to remove enough of the yellow.

I've used lil tiny slices of lemon or a cotton ball with a squirt of lemon juice. Hold it on the nail for a few seconds and keep swiping it over the nail - mine just 'lighten' lol

You can also use hydrogen peroxide to remove stains. I've never used it on my nails, but it can't hurt.
