Saw the dermatologist today...
Went in with dd to have one her moles looked at. I asked when the next available appt. was and they said Aug. 9th. I said well I have to check my calendar and call you when I get home. In a minute the receptionist said we've had a cancellation do you want to see the dr. today? I said sure. So she did a full body check (since I'm a sun lover) and said all was just fine.
I showed her a couple of flat moles on my forehead and asked if she could do something about those and she said oh yeah we can freeze those right off. So she did. Can you say OUCH?! There were actually 5 not a couple, all right together so she got them and then a couple on my neck. I guess it's official, I'm old. I'm growing barnacles now.
Oh well, part of the deal, eh? I was happy to have a good report and get the peskly moles burned out of my hairline on my forehead. I kept scratching them inadvertently. Have you been to the dermatologist lately?

Glad you had a good visit and was able to get in right away... I took my son today to the dermotologist since he has this kinda of ingrown bumps, the Dr. told him if it's what he thinks it is something fybro.... it is uncurable. So he took a biopsy and we have to go back in 2 weeks for the results. MY son is 17 and very self-concious so he doesnt want to have to deal with them all his life BUT know he knows he may not have a choice and he accepts it.

I am concerned about a wierd spot under my breast. I have talked and talked to docs about it, but each says it's nothing to worry about. if i could get dh to photo it and blur the questionable material (PG it down...)i'd do it. LOL, but i am not that capable with the digi cam program yet, lol.
I have a mole under each arm that i cut off EVERY time i shave the under arms. If i don't cut it completely i at least knick it. drives me mad.~~ Missy ~~

Yep, hate to admit it, but I'm getting old too, just had several moles removed a few months back. Love the barnacle comment had me laughing. I'm trying to put off the visit to the eye doc. My eyesight has really changed this year, but I'm trying not to admit it yet. If I get glasses, then it will be official...I'll be old ;o
I made dh go to the dermatologist as he had several dark spots growing on his legs and lots of really weird spots on his back. Both his parents have had skin cancer. I was concerned for him. Turns out is was something a person can get from sctatching mosquito bites or the like. The scarring causes the pigment to concentrate, forget know what the Dr called it. I always tell him not to scratch, but he just scratches them raw. Anyhow, I was releaved to know it was nothing. I try to just keep an eye on my own skin.

I've actually never been to the dermatologist, and skin cancer does run in my family. I try to stay out of the sun though, and so far nothing weird has popped up.

Kudos on the great dermatologist report
. That was so nice that they were able to get you in so quickly. You are so funny, I am still LOL at the barnacle remark. I love your sense of humor, you bring a smile to face with your wit and humor.

Buckeye5,
I'm sorry to hear of your loss too. I lost a brother almost 10 years ago, he was just 36, it was so hard. We were relly close and I still miss him a lot.
I'm glad you are keeping on top of your health in that regards.

I am glad your appt. returned good results. Laughing here too about the barnacles comment.
I am a sun lover too, but haven't been to the dermatologist....ever. Maybe I should have a check up. I try to watch for any changes and so for I haven't seen any. My MIL had to have a huge chunk of tissue cut out of her back due to skin cancer and I was the one who had to clean it out daily and repack it, and I don't want to go through that so I want to catch any changes early.~*Michelle*~

I too am sorry for the loss of your brother buckeye

PrairieRose, my mom calls them barnacles too lol! She had hers removed about 5 years ago from her neck and face.
I have to make a dr.s appointment. Three years ago I was at my dds soccer tournament and my bottom lip got sun burned really badly. I had lipstick on but I also had my umbrella for shade but the sun rays went right through the umbrella and I wasn`t aware of it at the time. My bottom lip was basically one huge scab, it was so gross.
I went to the dentist shortly after that had healed and when she put the light on my mouth she asked me what happened to my bottom lip as she could see scaring under the skin. I told her the story and she said that I had to be extra careful now as I was more suseptable to skin cancer and to keep an eye on it.
Well, to make a long story short (is that even possible? lol), 3 months ago I had what appeared to be a clear water blister appear in the centre of my bottom lip, thought it was the oddest coldsore in which I had ever seen. It then turned into like a small raised mole a bit darker then my lip colour and it is peeling white skin flakes. It isn`t very big but when I make my lip taunt it is all white underneath.
Dh had basal cell carcinoma on his face a few years back and my mother has had the squamous cancer just below her neck.

Having lots of moles runs on my mother's side of the family. I have tons, and always have. Some are getting big now, though, so I'm gonna get them removed...whenever I get the money.
I've tried over the counter remedies for moles, but they take a long, long time to work, and are painful! I did manage to make one on my cheek smaller, but it took something like 12 weeks.
