Question How long have you carried extra weight around?

Its been a very long time for me. In fact, after losing this 13 lbs. its the lowest I've been in a year.

I've always been a overweight it seems. When I look at baby pictures I was chubby, my teen years I fought weight problems and once I had kids I weighed even more.

Now that I'm 53, I've decided to take it off and keep it off. I always blamed my genes because my great granny, my granny and my mom always were on the heavy side, but I'm learning its not in my genes, but its me loving food and not turning away from it when I'm full.

How about you? Has it been forever, after the birth of kids, or?

I have gained weight at 21 years old, after I married... I'm now 38 and I've lost 65 lbs. once at 23, gained more after that, lost 85 lbs. 4 years ago and still gained 65 this past year... I am so fustrated about this! I want to lose it once and for all! I want to feel healthy and fit! No more painful feet!

Well after I had the triplets, I was pretty samee but have gained about 15 lbs or so in the last 3 1/2 years with then, snacking when I give them a snack, eating what I make them for lunch.. BUT recently I started to drink slim-fast and so I don't sanck as much and walking my oldest to the bus stop every day helps with me getting excercise so I am hoping to lose the extra 15 lbs I have..

Well, I was always heavy growing up...then when I was 23 I decided to lose the weight.....took me about a year and I droped down to 135....then in 95 I became anerixic (sp) and was down to 98lb and I was VERY sick. I almost died from it....once I got better I keep my weight around 125-130 until I got a desk job in 98. I slowly crept back up to 210 and thats when I decided to do something about it again..... I have been on and off the diet wagon for about a year and 1/2 now and am down to 196...but i'm back on the wagon to stay this time.....and hope to get to 145 which is a great weight for me....I carry my weight well and right now look like I weigh around 150.

Good luck to you all in the battle of weight loss!!!

You guys!!! I am so pregnant now. Huge and moo-ing. Give me a few more weeks and I will so be on this bandwagon. LOL

As soon as dr. gives me the aok postpartum to start some vigorous exercise, you will see the exercise/nutrition freak in me come out. So hopefully by Mid-December.

I'll be so ready to lose.

I have been carrying around extra weight since DD was born 21 years ago...but it has crept up the past 3 years.

I was not a heavy child. But, I think it is interesting as a high school student I had an adult body...I have many extended cousins all at the time were not fully developed, and aunts always commented on our weight (I have 2 sisters) we are all 3 heavy as adults. When I think back I was 5'5" and 127lbs, my sisters both taller 5'8" and 140...I don't think we were HUGH...but we felt that way......I think we all became what we envisioned we were.

So now I have decided to eat to be healthy and weight loss should follow. I do plan on walking also.

Well my jr and sr year of high school I was 165 lbs size 14. Then when I was 18 I got pregnant with my first and started gaining weight from then on till the birth of my last child( I had 4 kids in 4 years) and then after his birth I still gained weight. In April I was up to 226 and said enough is enough, I was overweight at 165 and 226 was getting too much for me, so now I am in the lower 180's and in a size 12/14 and still have another 40 lbs to loose.

I weighed about 135 when I got married (I'm 5'7"). After twelve years of marriage and two babies I hit my highest weight of 178. I held steady around 175 for the past three years. Now I am down to 158, with another 15 or so to go. I don't want to do the up/down yo-yo thing. I'm trying to lose this weight slowly and sensibly so I can keep it off.

I was always a little heavy as a child and into my teen years. I wore a size 12 in high school. Not too horrible, but I thought I was huge! My first semester of college I gained 10lbs and I ended up losing 30 my second semester. I got down to a size 7/8 and was pretty happy with that size. Unfortunatly I had horrible eating habits and lost the weight on a dexitrim, diet coke and rice crispy diet. Of course it didn't stay off. I really started packing on weight when I was planning our wedding. It was sooo stressful. Four months after we were married I was pregnant with Shelby, then the boys came along. The twins are now two, so it is definatly time to start working on getting to a healthier weight.

I was always a little heavy and had a serious salt problem growing up. Then at 19 I started traveling alot, and I actualy LOST weight eating 2 fast-food meals a day 4 days a week. I got down to 145, then got pg with dd #1... after her birth, I stayed at 150 for almost 18 mos, then got pg with dd #2. I gained a total of 40 lbs with that pg, 10 of which was toxic water retention gained in 8 days... after she was born I weighed 160 for the longest time.. then we got into the habit when my dh got a really good job, of going out to eat 2-4 x per week to buffets, steak houses & the like... and I suddenly went from working 60 hours a week on my feet to being a SAHM... I weighed myself in August, and discovered that in 2 months, I had gained almost 35 lbs.... I was up to 194 when I started loosing the weight. I've been up and down alot since then.. Now I'm determined to just keep going down... in weight, and size, that is....

I had the opposite problem most of my life, I couldn't keep weight on. I weighed 101 lbs. when dh and I got married (I am 5'3). I started to put a little weight on once we were married since I was able to go to the store and buy whatever I wanted and I could eat whatever I wanted too!!! I was around 120 when I got pg with dd and I put on 56 lbs with that pregnancy!! So I was up to 176 by the time I had her. I worked full time then and had to go back to work when she was 6 weeks old. I was miserable and I hated being at work and I was exhausted and I didn't take very good care of me. I pretty much stayed around 170 for a long time. Then we decided to get serious about baby #2 so I took a step aerobics class and lost 20lbs! We went through a very difficult and emotional time of TTC the second time. I had unexplainable secondary infertility and it took a toll on me emotionally so the only thing I could control at that point was what I ate!!! Long story short (6 years later) I finally did get pg and the day I went into the hospital to have my little miracle boy I weighed a whopping 192 lbs!!!!!! That is the heaviest I have ever been and I was so embarrassed when they asked me how much I weighed, I made dh leave the room!!!!! I am back down to 170 and would like to lose atleast 50 lbs!!!!
