How much weight would you like to lose?
Were among friends here and I'm sure no one will laugh at our weight loss goals. Lets encourage each other in this battle. We can all do it, if we work hard and report in.
My goal is to lose 80 lbs. over 12 months. I still won't be at my goal weight, but its easier to do it over 12 months. That averages out to 1.5 lbs. per week. I've already lost 13 lbs. in 6 weeks, so thats 2 lbs. per week. My family doctor says not to lose more than 2 lbs. per week. So I'm right on track.
I have only 67 lbs. left of my goal weight up to Aug. 1/2003.

Started at 210 went to 185 then back up to 195 now back on my way down, 192 currently. I will be around my goal the end of Feb. so this summer should be extra good for me and how I feel in my swimsuit!
Plus I will have a few extra mo. before summer, just in case I hit a plautau.

I would like to lose between 80 and 90 lbs by Sept 1 of next year. I began on August 27th this year. So far so good. I don't have a scale so I am putting my starting weight at the last time I was at the Dr in June.
Its been 2 weeks today and although I don't know if I have lost any weight, I do feel my clothing slightly looser in the back thigh area and my face and neck have changed slightly. I do have a Dr apt scheduled for October so I will weigh in at that time.
I don't want to get a scale. If I want to weigh myself I will stop at the Dr office. I want this to be a real life style change, rather than a numbers game. This is 7.5lbs/mo or 1.76/wk, which I think is very do-able.
I have been doing a Meditarrian Diet/Dr Willett (Eat, Drink and be Happy) which is lots of Whole grain producst, veggies "in abundance" , fruits, NUTS, poultry and fish. Only Olive Oil. Limited red meat, white bread, potatoes, white rice, dairy. I am not counting any fat grams, calories or carbo...just eating more healthy....
I do need to start excersing, walking.....I am thinking of joining you CJ in your exercice challenge (BTW on another forum I am Homebody....
), but I may have to start out with 15 minutes of walking and work my way up.

Omg - I'm so glad your here. We can do this together along with all the other ladies.
I'm weighing in but I'm eating almost word for word what your eating and its so much healthier. Its interesting, because since I started baking bread with freshly ground wheat, I'm not near as hungry as I use to be. I'm also eating breakfast which makes a huge difference.
Good to see you agan! Check out the quilting forum okay!!

I would like to lose 40 lbs. ... but I can't do it.

I can't seem to eat right, although I don't eat terribly bad.
I don't have the ambition to excercise daily. I decide to and I do it for a day or two then stop. I don't have the encouragement I need... I guess. I LOVE to walk, but I live in the innercity where its not safe to walk. I'd have to drive a ways to do it. I thought about getting an excercise tape/DVD and trying that?
Maybe reading along with you girls will get me going. I know I would feel better and have more energy with less weight on.
edited to add: In case you're wondering... the picture I am using for my avatar was taken a few years back (before I had Tyler). THAT'S what I should weigh.Sherry

We CAN do this, you too mommy2tyer!! Thanks for starting CJ. I'll check out the quilting thread.
I was looking for a dieting "forum", but I don't want to diet.....I want to change my eating style to be more healthy for a lifetime...Let's encourage one another!!!
I too have started eating breakfast, never did before. It does make a difference. Usually I have a whole grain cereal or bread and diluted OJ, and I do NEED coffee!! Before I just had coffee.
For a snack I have been eating walnuts, for the omega-3.
I also find since I have been eating nuts, walnuts, sunflower seeds, almonds and salted roasted peanuts. I don't crave salt and fat....from junk food and fast food.
CJ are you grinding your own flour on the homestead?? How wonderful!! I am looking for a good whole wheat bread recipe, I did copy one from taste of home, but if you have one you would like to share maybe you could post it on the baking forum...if you haven't already.

Hopeudance - love that new user name btw. Yes I am grinding my own wheat on the homestead. I've posted a couple of bread recipes that I'm using, but I'm doing more experimenting so until I perfect the perfect loaf, I haven't posted many.
Dh keeps telling me to keep the perportions that I'm using in the different grains but I tend to forget and the kids will say "oooh I like this one the best" and I've forgotten how much of what wheat I've put in.
Its amazing how filling the bread is using your own freshly ground wheat and it doesn't plug up the arteries like other bread does.
Sherry - you can do it with all of us. Do you have stairs where you live, go up and down them often. We have an upstairs so I don't have a choice. When you park to get groceries/items, park where you have to walk further than you normally would. Place your grocery items high in the cupboard and reach for them - excersise. Do you hang your clothes to dry - bending up and down is excersise. Walking with Tyler at the zoo/musuem is all a form of excersise.
Next look at what your eating. I hate dieting period. It doesn't work and you only put back the weight on along with more pounds. I'm liking healthy eating.
Good luck to all of us working at our weight loss program.

I will try, CJ.

Yes we have stairs, but I don't travel them much... just to the bathroom and for laundry.
I am very active... a day doesn't go by that I am not off somewhere with Tyler. I get antsy if I have to stay home. I am really enjoying my van, since I can go when I want to now.
The Zoo and Museum... I also walk the Mall of America some... Yesterday we went to a Nature Center nearby and walked for about an hour. Saw 2 deer real close up to us.
I eat good for the most part. We don't buy junk food... and we eat fast food maybe once a month for a treat. We eat alot of Hamburger Helpers, Rice a Roni, Chicken Helpers... HM pizza and HM breads. Roast done in the crockpot with potatoes and carrots. Soon we will have a freezer full of venison and waterfowl.
But I don't lose weight. I just think I need a tape/DVD that I do every morning. Maybe they don't work. I just guess I need a little boost or something.
I'll try with you all though.

Right now I'm weighing in at 215. I was closing in on 230, lost to 207 and bounced back up a bit
. I want to get to 150. DH isn't with me on that, as he likes me "fluffy", but if I can get my weight down, my thyroid back up, and all my other numbers looking good, I'll be more likely to want to do the hiking, biking, and camping he loves.
Sherry, if you need a "buddy" for walking stair climbing, or just exercising in general, I'll holler at you if you'll holler at me!
Heaven only knows I need the motivation, too. Let me know if you'd like to, okay?

My initial goal was to loose 86 pounds, the smallest weight I remeber being was 165 which was still overweight, since April I have lost almost 45 lbs, and have about 40 left to go. My goal is to have it off by May 2003 or sooner

I NEED to lose 15 lbs. I am working my way up instead of down. Why does junk food have to taste so good? Ice cream, chips and dips. My dh can eat all he wants and not gain weight. Uggghh!
Today is the day. I am committing myself to a new me. 1 lb a week for me. I had my body fat measured today. Yikes!! It is 27.7. The lady at the YMCA said I need to get between 20 - 25 to be considered healthy. This was an eye opener for me. A lot of people look at me and say "You don't have a weight problem. " LOL. Now, I can say, I got a body fat problem.
My goal in 3 months is to get my body fat down to 20 or 21.
