Lupus flareup...I could just scream!
Lupus is such a pain (literally) sometimes! I was all set to get things done today, and I did get one major project done, cleaning the bird aviary, but it almost wiped me out. I wanted so much to clean the house, but after all the stress with my mom, and the long trip and all, my lupus was just flaring like crazy today. Fatigue, pain (felt like I was hit by a truck) that did NOT respond to Aleve, and just general brain fog for the last couple of days. Yesterday, I walked around the house like a schizoid person all day, didn't get one thing done, not even unpacking.
I got some stuff unpacked today, but still haven't put away my clothes. Started ironing my uniforms three times...not done yet.
Mostly, I've read and sat on the computer.
I feel so useless on days like this!

I sympathize with you; it's no fun having a chronic illness. I have chronic pain myself (similar to fibromyalgia), and I often end up getting very little done because of aches and pains, or exhaustion due to sleep problems. And just when I try to go to bed, my allergy problems hit me and I can't sleep.
Hang in there, and do what you can.

Sorry you were feeling so bad. I really don't know a lot about lupus. Having chronic asthma though, I know what it's like to deal with a chronic illness. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Sorry you had such a rotten day. I hope you're feeling better and are getting some rest.
NancyI may not be where I need to be, but thank God I'm not where I used to be.

Darn...that's a bummer. I hope you feel better soon!
I deal with fibromyalgia type pain and exhaustion from Epstein Barr. Some days I get as far as putting in laundry, cleaning up the kitchen and I'm reading to go back to sleep.
If no one's coming over, I let the rest go. Can't wait til school starts. I'll be going back to bed at 9:15 after the kids both leave to get more zzzzz's!
I usually then awake with more stamina to finish up with cleaning, shower and run errands; or just be lazy.

Jaded,
What meds are you on for your lupus? This may sound weird, but try an eliminaion diet for two weeks if possible and see how you feel (no wheat, milk, eggs, soy, corn, or peanuts would be a basic one). My mom has lupus and syarted doing much better cutting down on carbs especially wheat. My asthma and joint pain disapear when I do not eat dairy. It's just a thought, but I do beleive it will help.Updated January 4, 2012

Sending hugs your way! I have some (luckily few) days like that too - most recently for nearly 2 weeks straight. I'm still trying to catch up on things.

I'm sorry you're feeling so badly....
I've recently read a book called "The China Study" and it claims based on 20 yrs. of research that all auto immune diseases are caused by eating more than 20% (of our daily diet) animal proteins. These include milk, eggs, cheese...... You might try to adjust your intake of those and see if it helps at all in the long run.

Thanks for the good thoughts. I have very mild lupus, and don't take any meds yet. I'm trying not to.
Good advice about the China Study and the wheat products. I really don't eat much meat or eggs/dairy. What causes my flareups is stress, and change in diet, which was what I had when I was away. My sister insisted on going to restaurants for lunch every day, and my diet was shot! Usually, it's mostly fresh fruits and veggies, with very little meat or dairy. I usually have yogurt every day, but had none for nine days, so my digestive tract is going bonkers!
It will all work out. It's just aggravating.
