    Default Laid up...Yuck...

    Ok I'm laid up.
Dh pulled the front porch off. He;s gonna rebuild and make it part of my livingroom so we can leave the woodstove in place.

WELL...Cluts me....Stepped on a rusty nail yesterday evening.
Did all the stuff...making sure it bleed. Soaked with epson salts, peroxide.

This morning after dh went to work I got up and pulled the sock off my foot.

Holy Moly I had a red place on the top of my foot the diameter of a lemon. Scared the willies out of me. got dh on phone and he came home.

Being a controled diabetic it scared the doc's also. They had to give me an IV, a tetnus shot and prescriptions. Got to go back in the morning so dh loses more work but it much better than me ending up maybe losing my foot.

So I guess that since I have to stay off my foot(man am I gonna milk this for all its worth) I'm gonna hang in here for the next few days,

So sorry to hear that but sounds like you will be back on your feet (so to speak) soon.

I did something equally clumsy few years ago, short version: me, Thanksgiving weekend, opened package with manicure scissors, stabbed self, hand puffed up like a sausage, E/R on holiday weekend, tetanus shot, antibiotics and damaged finger and follow up with hand surgeon....get well soon!

Ohh you take ALL of your antibiotics and I'm SO glad you got a tetanus! I'm a huge baby about shots but they made me get one last summer when I got cellulitis and my right leg swelled up like a balloon!

And you're right, milk it for all it's worth, lol, you DESERVE IT!! I sure did

As an EMT-B and a former medic for the military I will offer this word of advice: Anytime you step on anything rusty and it punctures skin--get a tetnanus shot asap.

Off my soap box now--Sorry you are laid up and hope you get to feeling better!

I'll bet that was really scary to wake up with your foot like that. I'm glad you got treatment and wish you a speedy recovery.
