    Default Naturopathic Doctor

Is it a Naturopathic doctor that tests for things such as, vitamin deficiencies, amino acid deficiencies, etc.? I'm wanting to get my son tested because he has tics, and I'm not sure where to take him to get this done. He's been to an allergist who found some food sensitivities. My next step is checking amino acids, and vitamins, I guess. Thanks.

That would be a good place to start. Then they could refer you to other places if needed. My son has some tics but they are just a nervous habit. When we ignore them they are more mild. Good luck!

A Naturopath helps determine underlying imbalances in the body and then advises the client on correcting the imbalances using natural methods such as dietary modifications, sunshine, hydrotherapy, herbs, and homeopathic remedies. Some naturopaths used high tech methods and others determine imbalances through iridology (looking at the eyes), kinesiology (muscle testing), and questioning. I am presently working on my Doctorate for Naturopathy and have a Bachelors degree in Natural Health. I think a good place to start is by looking at diet and making sure your son is getting adequate nutrition by eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and by avoiding processed and refined foods. Food additives can have a severe impact on overall health. If you want to read some of my articles or email me with some questions you can contact me and I will give you my website.

I am just getting my feet wet in studying herbs and natural healing methods. It is amazing how much my own health has bounced back from applying as much of what I have learned as I can. I think you are on the right path and it is good you keep an open mind and look to nature first.

Just think of it like this: The old adage "you are what you eat" is literally true. Millions of cells die in your body every day, and they are replaced by new cells made up of what you eat. So if you eat good, healthy food you will have good, healthy cells. If you eat junk food, you will have junk cells. Junk cells are weaker, and more prone to attack by things such as cancer, viruses, etc. So if you eat healthy, and have good, strong, healthy cells, you are less likely to get sick.

That's exactly right. The body will heal itself if given the right environment. Unfortunately, these processed foods and foods loaded with chemicals are overloading our bodies, poisioning us, and setting the stage for chronic dis-ease. That is one reason I recommend whole foods which are organic. Lot's of fruits and veggies. "Let food be your medicine".
