Oh good grief!
I just read an article that "chemo brain" which I had/have big time, "may cause memory and attention losses that may last for up to 10 years after receiving chemo"!
WELL, that explains why I forget everything and can't seem to keep paying attention to things! I thought it would be over by now, but at least I know I'm not getting alzheimer's or brain cancer!

I've heard something similar happens to the alcoholics brain once they stop drinking. I haven't had a drink in 15 months and I'm wondering if my memory problems are from that or menopause or both!

My hypothyroidism does that to me too. It stinks. People don't seem to believe me. Lack of concentration and forgetfullness is horrible. Not to metion at times embarrassing.

I've got that from celiac. It's like things just fall right out of my head.
My SIL got to meet Bruce Willis and has a picture with him that she showed me a couple years ago.
She posted it on her blog a couple months ago. I said - OMG! I never knew you met him.
How does a person forget that their SIL met Bruce Willis. I have no idea.
A mind like a steel sieve I tell ya!
NancyI may not be where I need to be, but thank God I'm not where I used to be.

I've had bad memory problems just from stress. One of the reasons I left my last job was because it was so stressful that I was constantly forgetting things just a few seconds after the fact. And I used to be known for my memory too. It's been nine months, and I've just recently started to get it back.

WOW! I'm perimenopausal with a thyroid malfunction and a high stress life (right now) - No wonder I'm hopeless! I've put some pretty wierd things in the fridge also, and stuck a piece of cheese in my jeans pocket instead of my car keys once (that got a pretty good laugh at work too!)

O.K., kiddies, mix menopause, Lupus, radiation, and hypothyroid, and you get brain fog like you would not believe! Sometimes I just walk around the house trying to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing.

Thank goodness I have company!!
Could you imagine us in a room together trying to have a conversation? How many of us can get out a complete sentence before forgetting what we were trying to say?

I guess when my husband was on chemo, I was the one that got "chemo brain". I can't remember squat but he still remembers everything, except for my birthday, LOL.

I think women have more memory issues. Though our guys might disagree. Women as a rule have more details in the brain. It starts at pregnancy. Appointments, belly sizes, ultrasounds, movements, everything we want to remember for later. Add the stress of all the aches and pains, and God forbid, any complications. Put us through several hours of labor. And we're frazzled and exhausted and sore and, ironically , elated and flying on cloud 9.
Then come the feeding issues, to breastfeed or not, the outside feedback on our choices. The fussy days, the sleepless nights. The colic, the tummy aches, the teething issues. not to mention the recovery from birth, hairloss, dissatisfaction with our postpartum bodies. Then there's baby blues, baby appointments, mom appointments, dad's impatient friskiness. It's all there.
Then the baby phase is settled in, mom is feeling pretty good, and then there's the mommy and me, the baby yoga, mom's groups, more dr. appointments. And sometimes JOBS too! And let's not forget the house, the laundry, groceries, bills. Did I forget anything? LOL
And if there are older kids, there's hockey, ringette, dance, powerskating, plus school forms to fill out, agenda's to sign, home work to do. Where to pick up who's kids, who's dropping off my kids, who's doing the carpool this week. Who's bring snack to what game. Where is who's practice, who can we call since we're triple booked at that time. Is there cadet's? Scouts? Who's bringing who where and when? I'll drop of A and B, you pick up B and Drop off C and I'll pick up A and C? Got it???
And then they say we're forgetful!!! No wonder there's brainfog for most of us....but there's more!
That alone is hard on mom's before there's any health issues. Add anemia, hypothyroid, stress, lupus, MS, and a multitude of other possibilities that women face frequently, and there is MAJOR brain fog to top off the fog that was already there.
So, don't feel bad, you're not alone in your brainfog.

Hm. I've had thyroid problems, but I don't now?
I've also had folks think I was probably ADD.
I've had a major brain trauma.
And, I'm menopausal too.
Gee! I'm normal...for once.
Judi
I mean, I'm the lady whose DH a few years back asked, "Did God take your brain out to lunch and forget to bring it back?" (I was being really ditzy that day; I laughed!)
