If you're on antibiotics & have been on them for at least 48hrs and you don't feel better, you may want to go back to the dr. You could have the beginnings of pneumonia and may need a nebulizer or something similar.
Hope you feel better, Julie. I have yet another freaking cold/allergies thing going on too

What are the antibiotics FOR? It might make a difference in how to approach the cough.
I usually get some relief from hot tea, but resort to hot lemonade (takes some getting used to, and is not the same as hot tea with lemon) when my throat gets really scratchy.

Go to the doctor. Or at least call his/her office and talk to the nurse.
Maybe you need a different medication.

My last two major illnesses involved some serious coughing. For the last one, my body got sort of stuck on "coughing autopilot" long after the illness was gone. The doctor gave me some pills that helped to suppress the cough. I agree about going to your doctor - you need to see if coughing is a good thing or a bad thing for whatever you have.

I can't shake what I have either. It's been 8 days. I took off 1 day from work and stayed in bed all weekend I felt so bad. My cough won't go away. I'm still achey and I get hot/cold. I try drinking hot liquids while I'm working and use vicks vapo rub at night at night. Hope this goes away soon. If I find a magic cure I'll let you know. I hope you start feeling better soon!

Depending on the cause of the cough, you may need an albuterol inhaler. Cold/flu/bronchitis viruses irritate and inflame the bronchial passages causing spasms and coughing and the albuterol opens up the airways. I suggest calling your doctor.
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
