Default Menopause!!! Here I Go Again, Sleepless

I hate to complain but I tired!! I'm having a hard time getting a good night's sleep. I've been getting "night sweats" and just plain restlessness. I'm trying a few things one at a time to try and help me get a good night's rest. I got a nice warm bath before bed and last night I had camimle(sp) tea. I feel asleep pretty good but woke up at around midnight and tossed and turned till I got out of bed around 3. I fixed myself some warm milk add read for alittle while. Went back to bed and slept till about 6:15. Got hubby off to work and went back to bed. Tossed and turned and dozed till about 8 and then I got up. If anyone has any ideas on getting to sleep and staying to sleep please let me know. THANKS

I found that if I wore too much or pulled too many covers over me, I would have worse night sweats than usual. So I started off each night with as few covers as possible. If I woke up cold, I could pull another blanket over me.

I also made sure that in warm weather the ceiling fan in the bedroom was on High.

Some of my sleeping problems would be all the weird dreams I would have. Boy, some of them were beyond unusual.

I find soya milk helps keep them down to a miniumn. Really. It works well plus having a cold face cloth ready beside my bed( for night sweats) helps alot when i need it.

sorry your not getting much sleep, i know how u feel.

Well I had my tea and my bath and thought I was sleepy. Well I'm up and I read awhile and now I'm on here sipping a warm cup of milk. Hope it all kicks in and I can get so shut-eye.

Black Cohosh really does help with the night sweats and hot flashes. You may have to take it a couple of months, but hey, Menopause lasts a long time! Also, don't take soy if you have thyroid problems.

Default No soy with thyroid problems?

I didn't know soy was a no-no when you have thyroid problems. Could you tell me why that is? I guess it doesn't apply to my son who drinks soymilk, a lot, and takes thyroid medicine. Or does it? Thanks.

About 10 years ago, I had a severe drop in estrogen due to extreme stress. I had horrible night sweats and hot flashes. My mood swings had me crying all of the time over nothing.

A friend told me to take "Woman's Best Friend". It is a natural, herbal supplement. I doubled my doses for a few days and it all stopped. I wasn't concerned about double dosing because it's natural. My body used what it needed and flushed out what it didn't use.

So whenever I "feel" like my estrogen level is dropping (usually about every 6 months or so) , I repeat the process for a few days. Then I'm good to go until the next time.

    Default sleep is very important

I hope you find your solution. the hot tea does the same for me. i can go to sleep but wake up often. My main problem with sleep is kidney failure and once i lay down my body starts processing all the water that has been hanging out. then it is off to the races all night , in and out of the bathroom. but if i really cant get sleep luckily ambien will do the job. BUt there is still problems. I can sleep longer but when i do wake up. Please dont get in the way when i head to the potty.
