Default Ds allergic to cats, corn, & rice...HELP.

My dh took my almost 6 y.o. ds to the allergist this afternoon and had his second skin test done.

He has a skin test done in Virginia when he was 4 and nothing showed up.

This time is shows he's allergic to cats, corn, & rice. My dh tells me that the doc. said they were a 3 and moderate.

Granted I'm getting my info second hand and I wasn't there to ask questions.

The dr. mentioned to my dh no corn on the cob but canned corn heated to a high temp. should be okay. But he did not get "limits".

My ds isn't a rice eater and we got rid of our cat a few months ago.

I need guidance/advice and the questions to ask at his next visit in Dec. Also what if anything do I tell his school?

Eliminate everything he's allergic to AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE! We elimated eggs, milk and thought peanuts as much as possible. DD is no longer allergic to eggs or milk. If the allergen is completely eliminated (says our allergist) chances of growing out are greater. She out grew the other allergens in 6 months and 1 year. We thought we were cautious about the peanuts, not thinking about "manufactured in a plant ..." and perhaps then we could have been more successful.

Call the doctors office back and explain who you are and speak with the doctor to get the info you seek. Even if you have to sched an appt with them, its worth going in so you know exactly what hes allergic to and how much and you will be put at ease about everything.

I had a skin test done and well I'm allergic to every tree, grass and flower out there LOL However I love being out in nature, rolling in the grass, going for walks in the parks etc. I ranked very high or severely allergic. If I take an OTC allergy tablet Im fine, I may sneeze on occasion, have sinus congestion and itchy watery eyes etc but Im fine.

I had a chornic cough and didnt know why - and it was new to me. Turns out it was my now ex bf's home. His mother smoked in the house and they had a cat. I guess their place was too closed in or not well ventilated enough and after repeated exposure to it my body gave up fighting and got sick. Stupid me for not figuring it out sooner - I already knew Im allergic to both cats and cigarette smoke Allergy season was over for me and I had stopped taking the super RX meds for about 2 weeks and around that time we broke up. Exactly a week later, I woke up 'healthy' again....thats how I figured it out. Sad huh?

Remove whatever he's allergic to and see if things change for the better Im sure it will all work out in the end.

Read labels a lot. Cook from scratch. Replace cornstarch with potato starch. Try not to use the same thing day after day - use canola or olive oil or
args - not corn oil. Replace rice with quinoa - your son may have already realized that rice maes him feel yucky and that may be why he avoids it. There are some really good book avaialble that you can look at.
