Raw Foods
Has anyone seen the trailer for "Raw For 30 Days"? It's a documentary about six people, who normally eat fast food, who decide to go 100% raw for a month. It features interviews with doctors, experts, and raw foodists including Gabriel Cousens, David Wolfe, and Woody Harrelson.
I am new to raw foods and very interested in hearing from others who are raw foodists and people who are trying to change their lives for the better. Many people in my family have diabetes and I have changed my diet and gone raw to prevent myself from also getting diabetes.

raw
Yes I have seen it, liked it.....Woody Harrelson has a web site with his wife Laurie Louie and it is called, I believe "voice yourself" and there are some cool links there.......I used to be strict raw diet, then just vegan, now I am just a vegetarian..........it is a very interesting concept, I do love everything about it, for me personally, it was expensive and too time consuming. I couldn't continue.....I wish you luck, you definately will feel 100 times better!!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing this. I'm trying to do more raw foods, but not going whole-hog on it.

We are doing 50% raw, but I'm thinking this winter will be tough as we also try to the 100 mile diet. So I spent a lot of time putting fruit and veggies in the freezer. We can buy the raw nuts locally except for cashews and almonds which are our favorites so we are letting those stay!
We both feel better, but I won't go 100% as it requires so much more work and I'm just not interested in going through all that rigamarol.

Hi this is a site that says that almonds are no longer being sold raw. Unless you get them direct from the grower there is a chance they have been irradiated.
I recently took a series of raw food classes. While I am not all raw I am trying to incorporate some raw into my diet! It was a wonderful class. Being raw seems a little tricky but worth the efforts!
Good luck everyone!

I'm trying to go mostly raw, but I won't ever go 100%. I just like cooked food, especially meat. I think 80/20 is the best I'll ever do.
I've studied the diet, and there is so much you have to know if you go 100% raw! It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle, much like vegetarianism, which is closely akin to it. It's hard to get all your vitamins from raw food. You have to take some supplements.
But still, it does clean out all that gunk that's built up from the general junk we eat.

It would certainly be a way to cut out the processed foods and get your fruits and veggies (two things people around here are sick of hearing me talk about) wouldn't it?
I haven't gone that extreme. We do eat quite a few things raw, but I also lightly steam some veggies and save the leftover liquid for use later. We've also not vegans or even vegetarians.
I think everyone could benefit from cutting out (or at least down on) processed foods and eating more fresh stuff. But I think the specifics about what you do and how far you take it is an individual choice.
My concern with the raw food diet would be about heatlh. Be sure to research it thoroughly and look for actual scientific or medical articles, not just personal opinion. Be sure you have all your bases covered nutritionally -- you may have to supplement. It's also not a bad idea to run it by your doc.
