Tinnitus - Ringing in the ears
Does anyone here have issues with tinnitus - ringing in the ears?
My SO has had problems with it for several years. It came on suddenly. He has been to a few ENTs, had his hearing checked, etc. He does have some hearing damage in the ear that rings the most. He has tried chiropractic treatment but that has not helped. He says that sometimes the noise goes away completely, other times it's very shrill. It has affected his sleep when it's very loud.

He doesn't take a lot of aspirin, does he? That can cause tinnitis.

I have this, almost constant ringing of the ears, when I have a headache it is very loud other times it is just barely noticeable.
I have had it checked and they can't find anything wrong or any reason why.
As for sleeping I sleep with the tv on, I can sleep with the noise of the tv but the ringing will keep me awake.

He could have a condition that I have, cant for the life of me remember the teckie term, where, in the ear canal and brain, something has "quit" working, the part of the brain that tells you not to hear the ringing. Bad news is, its permanent and not fixable. Or so my ENT has told me. This happenes to about a forth of the adult population in thier lifetime. Most, get it later in life. I got mine in my 30s.
