    Default Into alternative health remedies?

If so, what's your favorite or most often used product? I have to say that I really *lurve* tea tree oil. It's a natural anti bacterial, anti fungal that works soooooo well. I had an issue with a toenail (didn't go to the dr. but pretty sure it was a fungus, ACK!) and just a couple of treatments with the tea tree oil took care of it. I was thrilled, especially after reading what the side effects of oral prescription fungal meds were. Wow. Anyway, share your favorite remedy and how you use it. For me and tea tree oil, I used a drop or to at the tip of the toenail, it would run down under the nail and that did it.

I went to a reservation with a Native American friend, and while there became very sick.I did not want to miss a sweat lodge ceremony so I went, hacking and with fever.I disrupted the whole thing, but just could not quit coughing, or even sit up. I had to lay I was so ill. I asked for water to wet my tongue and a woman told me there was medicine in the water, which was steaming. They tossed it onto hot rocks, and it billowed.I thought for sure it was something hallucinatory, and I was up a creek. After the meeting I went to bed. When I woke up the next morning I was well. No sign of illness. I felt wonderful. I begged the elder to tell me what was in that water, and he finally told me that it was bear root.(Osh,ligusticum porteri)He also gave me a huge root, and told me to eat a tiny piece, or breath the steam from it when I was sick.Which anymore, is seldom. It taught me that there is a world of knowledge outside of our traditional healing that should be explored.( Anyone know where to dig this stuff?)

Annymoll I love your story. This is what I do for a sore throat. A friend told me about it. His father knew about asian medicine. Step a black tea bag in a cup of hot water. Cover and let steep until black. When tea is cool enough drink all the tea. It is a little harsh tasting but after a couple of minutes. No more sore throat!

Looks like it grows in my neck of the woods, although I have to say, I've never seen anything like the pictures. I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for it.

Now I'm a little confused, because I also googled bear root and it looks like a totaly different plant than the Ligusticum porteri which it calls love root. so not sure which one you are looking for. The other says it grows in the arizona area. Guess I'm not much help.

    Default remedy for acid reflux

I found this remedy for acid reflux on a natural cure website (sorry can't remember the name) Anyway 8oz of water and 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar. I use a cider vinegar that has what's called the mother in it. seems to work better. When i'm having problems with acid reflux I drink a glass at the start of the symptoms and usually within an hour the burning is gone.

It's recommended to drink this before every meal (or with your meal) 3 times a day. I did try this for a while and I found also that much of the gas, bloating and well l'll be polite and just say some of the other digestive track problems i was having went away.

I know it sound disgusting but i usually just chug the glass straight down that way you don't taste it much. Also you can add a teaspoon of honey or molasses if you like.

Also someone expressed concern that drinking something with a high acid content like vinegar could eventually errode your tooth enamel. If this is a concern. you can rinse you mouth right after drinking the solution with some baking soda water.

i did try apple cider vinegr pills adn they don't seem to work as well.

Cayenne. Great for sore throats among other things. I put it in tomato juice (as much as I can stand) and almost never have a sore throat for longer than a day. My son came home from college adding it to hot cocoa - not bad!
