Toddler ezcema
My 20 month old has ezcema, we have a prescription for Eilidel(sp?)
I grind oatmeal until it is powderized for baths every other day.
I use Gentle Naturals baby ezcema cream about 10 times a day
I just want to cry because her skin is so dried out right now and it itches and just hurts her. I use her medicine like the doctor told me to and i'm constantly massaging her with the baby cream.
Her skin gets good for awhile then it goes out of control again, back and forth. I pay attention to her skin every single day.
I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas for me to try.

My daughter and I both have excema. I use elidel too. A hydrocortizone cream works to stop itching (sparingly used) and for dryness I put on a thin layer of petroleum jelly - seems to work better than lotion. I use Aveeno skin products too - they have some lotions that help with itching. I hope she outgrows it - my daughter for the most part does. Another thing that might be helpful is to not give her baths that often and when you do make sure it is not too hot. Heat seems to aggreviate it. HTH

I've got two boys with eczema...one is almost 4 and the other is almost 2. As soon as they get out of the bathtub, I pat them dry with a towel and then slather their bodies with Aquaphor. I don't even open the bathroom door because I don't want the warm air to escape, because as soon as the cool air hits that skin, it dries up.
Elidel was prescribed last year for my youngest who really has had the worst problem with the eczema, but with extreme warnings only to use it when the area is extremely red because there are some warnings about it because it is a strong cream. Also, we were told never to use the Elidel on the face.
I also use the Aquaphor first thing in the morning when they get up. It really helps tremendously. My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

my son has it I only let him bath in the winter time every other day and use aquafor lotion. He is 10, although he has always had it and it gets really bad in the winter I also found it I put a small tea kettle on top of our wall furnace it helps put moisture back in the air which helps him. It does make the room a little cooler but at least he isn't scratching to the point of making himself bleed.

Our pediatrician told us to stop using Elidel (I didn't even know it was still on the market). I used to use it on ds#2--fortunately, I never had to use it much on him.

Wesley has eczema. Under doctor's orders, we only give him a bath every 3 days or so, as needed, because of how bad it gets. We have a prescription lotion we use on him also.
My mother in law swears by the Arbonne baby products, but I only use the prescription lotion on him.McD

My son used to have ezcema when he was little. I changed to using vegetable oil soaps, I used the creams the doctor prescribed me when I needed to, and changed his shampoo to The Alchemy brand (not sure if you get that over there) which is soap free. There are also oil lotions that you can put in the bath.
I work in Aged Care and we have a lot of trouble with dry skin. We have been told to always use a pH balanced lotion (about 5.5 for your skin). J&J have a pH balance range of products that might work. I used to lather ds in the creamy baby oil after his bath (he was only a baby grew out of it by the time he was 4) which helped a lot.
Good Luck with whatever you decide to use.

My DS had excema which only flaired up with his asthma. (which he has thankfully outgrown!) We used Aquaphor and that worked really well, but on the spots that were really bad, the dr prescribed a hydroc. cream (10% I think) that worked within days on the bad spots.
If you have a pediatric dermatologist near you, it might be a good idea to have your DD checked out by them since they specialize in children with skin problems.
Good luck! I know it's difficult to watch your child suffer with excema, but keeping the air moist, the skin covered with cream/lotion and keeping them busy with other things does help.Wife to DH

The concerns about Elidel and it's counterpart, Elicon were regarding cancer. I've attached an article above. Don't worry...seriously, but read the article. It's pretty clear. My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

That scares me. I'm trying to keep it controlled because I don't want to use medication but then again I don't want her to be hurting.
Thank you for all the suggestions!

My 4 yo dd has it excema due to food allergies. Once we got those under control (mostly) we have had better luck. Our doctor said to bathe in warm water daily for ten minutes tops. Washing helps to remove irritants. We were using aquaphor soap for babies but he told us to use Olay Ribbons. Ridiculous, I thought, due to the perfumi-ness, but WAY better skin. We also use vinegar in our rinse cycle (or do a double rinse) to make sure detergent is completely out (even though we use All free and clear). We have a medicine for breakouts (I'll look for the name) and a maintenance medicine (supposed to use 2x daily), again have to look for the names. But here skin has been BEAUTIFUL since doing this. Hope this helps. I feel for you, it's not fun.

Right now i'm using Wisk detergent that is not perfume dye free. Next week I will buy perfume dye free detergent.
I cut milk/dairy out the last week and see no change. I'm trying to remember what we were using or doing when her skin was good.
