    Default Quiting smoking

Today is the day I quit cold turkey. I smoked 1 pack a week, mainly when I felt stressed. My oldest asked me to quit last night and I decided i'm going to do it.

Way to go! The best gift you can give your kids is to BE AROUND and quitting smoking is a great way to improve your health. My mom quit several years ago and used Zyban (sp?) to help with the cravings/depression that can come with quitting. She took it temporarily and hasn't smoked since.

Good luck! I'm pulling for you!!

Woohoo! Keep a bottle of water with a twist off top handy. It helped get me thru. If I wasn't drinking water , I was twisting that cap on & off.

    Way to go!!

My quit day was suppose to be Jan 8th( next monday) but it's probably gonna be pushed back a week. I have read that St. John's Wort can help with you quiting but you need to take it a week before you stop. I am gonna pick up a bottle tomorrow and start taking it so my quit day will now be Jan 14th.

You can do it! Keep yourself busy and drink lots of water! We're here if you need anything!

Great job! I am on day 3 and aside from a short burst of stress last night (I smoked about 2 packs/week, only at night) so far so good. I KNOW you can do this!

Think of all the money you could save if you quit smoking. What do cigs cost? Like $3.00 a pack or something. Your daughter loves you and knows cigarettes shorten a person's life. Everytime you are tempted to pick up a cigarette think of your precious little girl and also how you want to be around a long time for her and here sister. Also think of how much this terrible habit is costing you.

cig are $5 a pack here, thats an extra $5 a week i'll be saving.

I won't actually be saving it now because I told my oldest we'll start going to the McDonalds playland every Friday as long as she does her best in school all week. The kids could get a happy meal and play a couple of hours there.

I'm not missing smoking yet, been busy all day so far.

Ah that's great news!! I quit 2 1/2 years ago when I got pregnant with my DD. I also took Zyban, but really, I was ready to quit anyway. I wish I had quit when DS asked me to years ago! You go girl!! We are all here for you In a couple of days the cravings will pass, then it's just getting over the habit of smoking that will last about a month, maybe even less if you can find something to occupy your time, ie: gum, coffee, carrot sticks, all this stuff really works! Plus it should be quicker since you smoked so little. We are proud of you and everyone else making the move to quit!! Well done!!
