    Default diarrhea

I need a home remedy for diarrhea that I've had for about a week now. I am also pregnant so it needs to be safe. Please help! Thanks

    here are some--

Lemon has a lot of vitamins therefore really good for health problems.
You can use lemon in cooking by slicing it or squeezing it or you can drink its juice.
Lemon is really tasty as an addition to salads or in tea. It can also be used in cosmetics and for aromatic use.
To relax the stomach, squeeze 1 lemon and add a touch of milk to it. Drink up.

Drink chamomile tea a few times a day to relax the pain from the diarrhea.

Poor gal! Don't let yourself get dehydrated!

Growing up in Hawaii, we used guava juice -- and it is yummy with lots of vitamin C! Ginger tea (just boil peeled ginger root in water) also is soothing if your tummy is queasy.

You might also try eating some yogurt to replenish the "good" bacteria in your digestive tract.

Have you talked to your Dr about this?

yes, I've talked with my doctor and he said that if it isnt' better by the end of the week to call him again. He also mentioned eating yogurt. I've tried but nothing seems to work. I've been drinking about a gallon of water a day because I'm so thirsty. It's mostly the cramps that bother me....they hurt so badly.

Instead of guzzling a gallon of water maybe try sipping water, and chewing on ice cubes. It will lessen the amount of times you run to the bathroom. Good luck!

Try dry plain toast and a plain cup of tea. Don't eat anything after that for a couple of hours. A nurse told me this and it always helps.

I'd call your doc again & I really think he should be giving you more attention than he is. Even a non pregnant woman shouldn't suffer like that for this long. jmho.
Hope you get some relief soon..

A great natural remedy is ginger. Most grocery stores now carry the pickled ginger they have at sushi restaurants and you can eat that plain. It's strong, but I really love the taste.

Also, be sure to stay hydrated. Water is great. You may also need something like Gatorade to replace lost potassium, sodium, etc.

We've always used the BRAT diet for diarrhea. Bananas, rice, apples and toast. It seems to work very well.

Adding fiber will help -- bran, oats, Metamucil . . it all soaks up the excess liquid.

You need to keep your potassium levels up too ( your body excretes potassium through the bowels). OJ, bananas, cantalope, potatoes in the skins are good sources.

Thanks for all your replies. I agree that my doc. should be paying closer attention to this. I have NO flu symptoms except for this and six days is a long time. I'm worried it may be a bacterial infection of some sort. How would you know?

Have you changed anything in the way you eat? Are you taking one of those pregnacy vitamins? I have IBS so I always have diarrhea. For some wierd reason when I take prescribed iron suppliments for aniemia instead of getting constipated I get diarrhea. When I was pregnant and taking Materna (I think that's what it was called) it did the same thing. I agree that you should eat rice and bananas and drink a lot of fluids. I would switch from water to a solution of
    3 Tablespoons of Sugar
    3/4 teaspoon of Salt
1 Cup of Orange Juice (I don't use this)
    1 Quart of Water.

Boil the water then add the orange juice, sugar and salt, stir and let it cool down before you drink it. This mixture will do a better job of keeping you hydrated instead of plain water. You absolutly need to get checked out though to make sure.
