Default My mom had another seizure...

My mom (79 years old) has Alzheimer's and lives in a facility for people with memory impairment. This morning she had her 2nd seizure and was rushed to the emergency room. Her first seizure was several months ago. Her doctor told us that sometimes Alzheimer's will lead to seizures. All her tests (CT scan, etc.) have been fine both times.

It was so sad to see this sweet, gentle lady not able to express the fear and anxiety we know she was feeling. Even though everyone at the hospital was very kind and gentle with her, she was so confused about what was happening.

She was allowed to return to the facility since there's nothing really that can be done and keeping her in the hospital would just agitate her more.

Do any of you have a loved one with this terrible disease?

Before my aunt passed away she was completely confused. She did not know my uncle and kept calling the police because "that strange man" was in her house. At his funeral she wanted to leave because she thought it was a funeral for someone else's family member.

I think this is one of the most heartbreaking diseases there is. I will keep her my thoughts and wish her peace. I hope for peace for you as well, I know your heart is torn to pieces.

I'm sorry to hear you are going through this. My grandma passed away about 10 years ago after years with Alzheimer's. My mom and I helped "babysit" her until she had to be placed in a nursing home. She was in a bed for a few years before finally passing away, it was just such a sad ending, she was such a vibrant person.

Hugs and thinking of you. Feel free to PM me if you need to talk to someone who has been there/done that.
