Default Anyone do the cheat to lose method?

I'm only doing a modified version by having a cheat day each week which really computes to a 'cheat meal' of choice but it does get me through the week knowing I can look forward to it. Anyone else use this method? Had any success to report?

I just started a diet a week ago and thought I would allow myself a small to middling splurge once a week, probably on Sunday night, the beginning of my "weekend" -- I'm off on Mon/Tues. I'll see how it goes. But it makes sense, just like having a little fun money built into a frugal lifestyle. I'm thinking a Hershey's dark chocolate stick on Sunday night after work would be just about right!

~I don't plan to cheat. If I want something special I save up my calories by eating light at a meal. I have had two binge days during my diet but even then I didn't consume more than a maitenence weight calorie total. I just know me. If I let myself have what I really want, I'll want it all the time. It'd be too easy to rationalize letting myself have my reward early or more often for whatever reason. I just know I'd be consumed with thoughts of goodies I could consume on my cheat day.~

I'm weak...if I cheat I completely lose control. The only way for me to kick the cravings is to stay away from stuff I know I have little control over once I start.
