    Default Ok, I hope you're all sitting down.....

    I'm about to embark on an adventure of sorts.

    My wise guy brother in law (BIL for anyone wanting to learn a new internet abbrev.) gave me a 'funny' gift a year ago for Christmas. It was called "Belly dancing for Fitness". Haha. REeeealll funny. Anyway, one day last year I got to watching the video while I was cleaning and before I knew it about 3 hours had passed with me trying to do some of that stuff. How those women do that is beyond me, but anyway....I couldn't get my body to move in most of those 'ways', if you kwim. I sort of got obsessed with the video b/c it was so challenging trying to..... . Anyway I mentioned to Gripey one day that if it weren't an hour's drive each way that I might just sign up to take a belly dancing class. I'm pretty sure what motivated him to say this (and boy is he gonna be disappointed....roflmao) but he said "well do it!". We laughed and that was that. Ok fast forward to this past summer. I'm at a ladies swim party and this friend mentions that she's wanting to take a belly dancing class. Well you can see where this is going. We tried to start at the beginning of the school year (it's a college course....CEU) but she had a gravely ill aunt that she had some responsibilities with and couldn't do it then. I thought well we'll never get around to it and I was ok with that. Anyway the other day she called me and said "Let's do it!" . We've both signed up and start tomorrow.

    My 3 kids are all in shock I assure them that I'll never entertain them all at Christmas with a 'recital' or anything....... I'm really looking forward to it and know it will be a great form of exercise. If I can just get my belly to, well, dance.

    {ok Darlene, I know it's coming....where's that great belly dancing U Tube video?}

    Hey, me too! I had an acquaintance who joined up and then they had problems with the instructor (like, she took all their moeny...) and she was trying to find a new class. She was supposed to get back to me if she found one. Maybe I should check into it myself. I know, I know...I'm almost 50...my belly aint pretty (extremely nasty c-section scar)

    I was thinking YouTube too!

    I do hear its great exercise, and as a mom you are obligated to do things that make your kids think you are nuts! Tell us how it goes, sounds like fun. The best part is you have a friend to do it with, I'm sure lots of giggles lie ahead.

    Sounds like we're in the same boat, I'm almost 48, have a nasty C-section scar, a gall bladder scar that stretches half way across my midsection on the angle and an appendectomy scar. I'm think I just may keep my road map covered..... But I hope to tone it up a little.

    I think it sounds like great fun. Kudos to you for doing it. We can't wait to hear all about the classes.

    Here ya go!
    I think after the bedroom redo the kids really aren't all that shocked & I know Gripey will smile ear to ear.

    You go have fun & enjoy, just be careful you don't get too carried away. I can see you at the doc's now...I um... threw out my back doing an undulating swivel followed by a shimmy shake.

    Go for it!

    That's the one. Yazaman is my bellydancin' hero. And I just wanna say in my best Crocodile Dundee voice and accent "Not that's a knife!".
