Thyroid condition???
I have been feeling like do-do the past several weeks. I finally went to the clinic on post this week thinking I had anemia, but couldn't figure out why my breast hurt, like the let down reflex for the past month. The LNP performed a breast exam and said everything was fine, ordered some blood work and told me to hang in there. The blood work came back and I am not anemic, my iron was better than normal. Okay, I still feel bad and my breast feel like I am trying to nurse again. We have started trying for another little one, but I am not pregnant - I had a blood test done this week. So I went back to the clinic and saw the MD today. Funny thing, when I was getting ready, I was examing my nipples and low and below - I am lactating!! OMG!! I have not nursed in nearly a year! So, that was the first thing I told the doctor, he said my prolactins may be off which would make my breast behave as they have. I told him about the coppery taste I keep in my mouth, my tiredness, my meanness (per DS and DH), my infrequent racing heart, and the awful aching I feel, and the white spots under my nails. He thinks I have a thyroid problem and as ordered some blood work. He also said that mine was a little enlarged. And my mother had part of her removed in her 40's and my aunt is on medication as well. So I am wondering if any of you other FV'ers have or have had these type of conditions and if it was your thyroid. I am feeling bad enough to keep me mad and PO'd most of the time, I just want to be back to my energetic self and working hard on a new addition to my family. Thank you for listening!

I had all but the breast-related symptoms, and it was my thyroid. The good news is that it is highly controllable once diagnosed.

6 years ago I woke up on a Saturday morning, when I started to feel all weird. My heart was racing and I was feeling incredibly anxious. A couple of days later I went to see my GP, who did some blood tests. I was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid. My mum did have the same condition in '89. Hers also came on very suddenly and she died within 2 weeks. Anyway (non wanting to scare you), I started off on medication, but a few months later had to have treatment (radioactive iodine) to 'kill off' part of my thyroid gland. Unfortunately too much was 'killed off' and now I have to be on thyroxine (levothyroxine) for the rest of my life. i don't mind, apart from weightgain, which I find very hard to keep in control of. I'd lost a lot of weight when I was overactive, but have put all that, as well as some more on again. I find theat more depressing than anything else.
I hope you doctor fitures out soon what is wrong with you, so you can get the right treatment.

I have hypothyroidism--under active thyroid. I did not have the breast issues but I did have the others. Hang in there. If they get you on medicine it does help alot.

Update...
Well sort of. I was feeling rotten yesterday - twice as bad as I felt Friday. So I went to the Emergency Department at the post hospital. There was not much they could do for me, except check my test results from Friday and make an ultrasound appointment for Tuesday. The doctor said that my T3 and T4's where within a good range!! So what does that mean? My neck was swollen yesterday and still some today, I feel
and my breast still hurt. I just don't know what is going on. I was feeling better today with not much achiness, but then I felt like I was in a brain fog and floating. Last night every time DH moved around, I felt like I was spinning. Then this afternoon - I crashed and took a huge nap. Good thing DS was home to help DD.
Thank you all fo listening and sharing your conditions with me. Not sure what it is, it could be my Pitutary Gland, hopefully some scans will show something on Tuesday. Thank you again!

most women today (esp in america) have a thyroid condition... more have it & don't know.
i have auto-immune hypothyroid.
however, the comforting thing about thyroid conditions - yes comforting! - is that it's common AND can be treated with a pill.
I have some of the symptoms you've mentioned, but honestly, the thyroid affects EVERY part of you - from your hair to your toenails and everything between inside and out.
So it's not uncommon to find that something else a little strange is happening.
I wish you lots of patience and I hope you find out what it is (even if it's not thyroidism) and get it straightened out.
I know the frustration and stress that goes along with trying to figure out what's going on.
we're here for you!

I have hypothyroid. It took the doctor almost a year to get the right dose for me. They started me out on way too high a dose. I take a generic equivalent for synthroid. I used to feel very tired and weak but had none of the other noticeable issues you mentioned.

Latest Update
Ok, I went back to the Dr yesterday. Before I saw him I had an ultrasound of my thyroid and an MRI of my brain. The results of the ultrasound won't be back for a few days, but the dr was able to get the results of the MRI. Well, he wants me to get another one, because they couldn't see everytihng and there was some movement. So, they are also running some test on my pitiutary gland - since I am producing colostrum (early breast milk) out of the blue - like I haven't nursed in 11 months!! I am feeling better, but I don't know what is going on. I have headaches more often than not and I feel funny sometimes. My thyroid blood work looks fine, but the jury is still out on that because my thyroid is enlarged. I am trying not to stress - we really want to have more children - but I am worried about other things now or even if I can get pregnant with all of this other stuff going on. Thank you again for being such good listeners and giving me feedback

Im sorry your dealing with this. If you dont mind I would like to follow you along this journey so I can learn from you.
Several people have asked me over he years if I should be checked for this.
If I eat 100% whole wheat, whole grain foods I gain 10 pounds a week.
I am not joking , please know that.
30 years of acne...Thin oily hair and skin.
I now have strange feel like nursing pains in my breats too :O
The breast pain has only been present about 2 months.
Heck my nursed kids are teens hahaah.
The last time the family doc tested me my numbers were good?
Do I go for a second opinion? If so what kind of doc?
My gyno doc supposidly has had his spouse return to work and she specialized in female hormon issues.
Can I just see her about this?
I dont have contact with my bio mom but am told she has a severe thyroid problem?
I don't seem to have that many symptoms though?

Belated Update
Hello All!
I am sorry for the very belated update and I will also start a different thread on what is going to apply here. So to back-track a little.
I got a referral to an endocrinologist and went at the end of January. He said that though my thyroid was a little enlarged, that all levels were normal. And the MRI of pituitary gland was fine too. He was also going to run test on my thyroid and check my prolactin levels to determine why I was lactating without being pregnant. At one point my period had nearly disappeared - like for less than 48 hours! I even went and took a pregnancy test and it was negative
The doctor put me on some medication call Parlodel to stop the lactating - very odd seeing how I loved nursing when I did! This was also used to regulate my periods and help us try to get pregnant. The doctor did say that my prolactin levels were fine - almost on the low side! So in my deepest desire to become pregnant, give birth and breastfeed - I must have made myself start to lactate on an emotional level! I don't know....
So the good news - there was not a tumor, my levels are fine and .... I am pregnant now! Just found out a couple of weeks ago - so we are cautiously optimistic! We have suffered miscarriages in the past. So evidently the lactation issue was making the old wives tale come true - if you are breastfeeding it can be used as birth control. IDK - but I am def prego and very sick right now!
So - it is a mystery as to what happened to me and why they did! The doctor told me to have my prenatal health care folks keep an eye on my thyroid through out my pregnancy and see him when I am postpartum for it as well.
I am sorry I couldn't shed more light on my condition to help others that might be going through the same thing. Thank you all for your good wishes and prayers!!
