Has anyone had lap-band surgery
I am in the process of insurance approval for the new lap-band procedure. I have been overweight nearly my entire life.
Two and a half years ago I started weight watchers for the 4th or 5th time. Two years later I had lost 60 lbs. with about 100 to go. I couldn't afford it anymore so I quit. I tried to maintain it but hear I am with about 40 of it gained back.
I talked to my dr. who says I'm running out of time. My knees and ankles hurt all the time. My bp is still good but for how long?
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has had it done and how they got along.

i just googled it. Forst time I ever heard of it. I know my friend got hers stapled and suffered beacuse it ia a life change and she deffentky had to make sure she got as much nutrients in to such a egg size stomach. This may not as evasive since the stomach is still there and the juices (bile) is still there to break down what you are eating.

I wanted no permanent restructuring of my stomach or bowel.
The dr. who will do the surgery explained the old stapling procedure was a problem because the stomach could stretch and pull the staples loose.

I know two people who have had the lap band procedure. Neither have had any problems, lost the necessary weight, and have been thrilled with the outcome.
It did take awhile to get used to the change in lifestyle with regards to eating, but you have to do it...there's no choice. And, you're better off for it.My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

Not personally but I know 2 ladies who did and lost well over 100 pounds each, one even lost 180. They both say that it's the best gift they've ever given themselves.
