Bursitus Relief? Help!
Complaint time:
I woke up sometime Sunday night, feeling like my right shoulder had fallen off. It just wasn't moving with me when I turned over in bed. Monday, the shoulder was very painful when I moved in certain directions, and when I sneezed the pain was most intense.
I kept thinking it would gradually go away, but by Tuesday, the pain was still there so I went to the chiropracter. He diagnosed bursitis and said that the bursa was too full of fluid. So he worked on it and worked some of it out with ultra sound. That gave me more movement. He said that I should feel the pain diminish by Friday.
So........... it's Thursday night now, and I have experienced a lessening of pain, but there is still some there.
All that to ask if any of you have ever had bursitis? What did you do to relieve the pain? How long did it take you to get back to normal?
Thanks...........Spiritual:

Sorry, not much help, but my FIL has it and he has to stay away from certain foods. As long as he doesn't eat certain things he does pretty good. I think maybe WebMD might have some suggestions. I can't remember the foods, but seems like caffine is a biggie.

Not specifically bursitis, but with all the sports I do, I am constantly dealing with some sort of inflammatory injury or another. My typical formula is an anti-inflammatory (I like over the counter ibuprofin, some like that stuff Aleve, but I don't). My doctor says you can take up to 800mg at a time (4 pills). Take it consistently to battle inflammation.
Also, use ice. I have a couple of those gel packs that you can get at Target and I keep them in the freezer at all times. I do 20 minutes on and 10 minutes off for three times in a row and that really helps bring the pain and inflammation down.
For topical relief, Tiger Balm or BioFreeze are good.
Hope you feel better soon!!
