Default Finally! My doctor LISTENED to me!

Ok, maybe he listened last year and just didn't decide to DO anything until my 6 month followup. Anyway, I will be having an ablation (kind of like a D&C only thermal rather than scraping) that should take care of all of the hemhorraging and off-schedule bleeding that I've been complaining about. Then I can get on with living the way I usually have - kind of independant and tending toward heavy labor. He says it should have virtually no recovery period other than having the meds wear off and some cramping, and I can return to work the next day! YEA!!!!!! So WHY didn't we do this long before now? - oh, it is scheduled for th 7th of March - I guess it's my St Pat's gift to myself!

Who knows why they didn't do it sooner if it's such a straightforward procedure? Maybe seeing if it would fix itself? Anyway, I hope you feel better.

Glad your getting this taken care of. I don't know how many articles I read about women having to really push their doctors about health issues. Hope you have a quick recovery!

Glad your Doc is moving forward with this. I had proceedure 1 1/2 yrs ago and it worked wonders for me. It took 3 or 4 days for me to feel "normal"--I don't react like most people do to pain meds etc.

Oh Edna, this is going to change your life.
I had it done about 10? years ago and it gave me my life back. You want to talk, just pm me. I was just telling someone in the Village about this yesterday, lol. It really is great. I wouldn't go to work the next day though, give yourslef a little break.

I had it done four years ago and it changed my life. My doc tried medication for about 6 months but it didn't help so she did the eblation instead. Maybe your doc waited because it does cause sterility also. Good luck and give yourself a couple days to recoup especially from the anesthesia.

Good luck with the procedure. I have heard very good stuff about it.

Thanks to all of you. I am really looking forward to this - not to the actual procedure, but to the afterwards part where I get to have my life back. I am normally VERY independant, and the situation has been interfering with that significantly. I also wanted to raise the discussion because I have been SOOOO frustrated by the lack of action on the part of several doctors, and the repetition of the advice (from the docs!) to "just go to the ER" which seems both expensive and like it SHOULD be unnecessary. So, after this, it will be. Incidentally, I'm nearly 50 and very single so sterilization is not a problem to me. 25 years ago I felt differently about it.
