Default Does anyone use vaseline for face?

I heard that using vaseline for your face at night is really good for you. Does anyone use this method. I tried it last night but my face felt so greasy all night long. Knowing me, I did something wrong with it. Live and learn I guess that is how it goes.

Not only have I never heard of this but I wouldn't do it. It would clog my pores like crazy.

I use it around my eyes as a moisturizer and it works great. If you have really dry skin, I think it would be ok to use on your face. Otherwise, I think it would make pimples!

My mom has used vaseline on her face at night. She is in her 70's and has dry skin. I think it can make it greasy, but she likes it just the same.

I've used vaseline on my face as part of a facial, removing all the vasleine with a hot cloth before, usually in the winter if I get a case of super dry skin BUT NEVER as a leave on beauty cream.
That stuff as a lotion is to leave on soles of feet and cover with socks, on your face it could clog pores and make you get pimples.

I've heard about using it as an overnight moisturizer too but once I went to bed with it on my face and I couldn't even sleep b/c my face stuck to the pillowcase. I had to get up and wipe and wash it off..... I felt like a stick of warm butter.

It can be a wonderful moisturizer, but it depends on your race. I watched 2 little black kids, then 3, they were the sweetest little munchkins(too bad mom wasn't..lol) Anyway, they had the most beautiful skin. Always so soft and I asked what she used, and she used vaseline on them and herself, she had gorgeous blowing skin. I tried it on my kids..lol. greased monkeys. Now I have a little bi-racial boy. He gets really dry skin. I use vaseline on him here and his dad asked me what I used as he is usually so dry and flaky(adopted, both parents white), and I told them, they started that at home now too, as the expensive moisturizers weren't cutting it, and his skin is awesome now.

So I think there is some relationship between race and how absorbant your skin will be to the vaseline. I don't use it as I can't even get it to rub into my hands that are always dry. But the darker skin tones seem to respond to it, even my neice who is filipino and her siblings (mexican) used it after swimming here as it's realy dry compared to Mazatlan, they all had white patches, a little vaseline and they all glowed, non greasy.

On chapped cheeks and chapped lips, but not the whole face.

Hubby, a mailman, puts it on his cheeks because they get all chaffed being outdoors in the winter for hours. It's funny, I'll hug and kiss him goodbye and a few hours later I notice a bit on my cheek from hugging him hours earlier. Makes me smile.

I read this in a frugal book and also seen it on 'Tyra" show. My pour eye lides are always so dry no matter what I try they are always dry in the winter. One of these days I will find something that will works before I break the bank.

Vaseline is a purified form of the film that was originally found accumulating around oil pumps.Vaseline is also known as Petroleum Jelly and is a mixture of high boiling saturated hydrocarbons similar to most greases. It is made from the fractional distillation of crude oil.

    Not on my face.

Why not try this instead of vaseline on face

    2 ounces olive oil
    1/2 ounce grated beeswax
    12 drops grapefruit seed extract

In a double boiler over simmering water and medium heat, combine the olive oil and beeswax, and heat until the wax has melted. Remove mixture from the heat and add the grapefruit seed extract. Beat with a hand mixer until creamy. Makes 1/4 cup.

Store in a glass jar with a screw-top. Lasts a year.

You might want to try Ponds Dry Skin Cream. It's a jar with a blue lid and by the Ponds Cold Cream. It's not that expensive and really works pretty well.

I only use it for my lips.
Like someone else said Vaseline may
    clog your pores.

I agree! My rule of thumb is to avoid putting on my skin anything that I would not eat (because your skin absorbs so much). And I definitely wouldn't eat petroleum.

I use almond oil as a moisturizer.
