Default Finding happiness The natural Way

What we eat does affect us. I consider myself to be an example of this article. Once I started on my Raw food journey, within day's I noticed my entire thought process and mood shifting to a positive very spiritual level. Eating raw has made everyday the best day now.

    raw food?

you must have a vitamix too ! My favorite book for the machine is "raw food, real world"...
I should use the vitamix more but its just so cold out now...
when it warms up, breakfest will be a raw food smoothie.
I love the vitamix... nothing beats it.

Yes, raw food:-) LOL, I do have a Vitamix and I use it constantly now. I make my smoothies, soups, nut butters, etc in it. I actually got a pretty good deal on it on Ebay. The Vitamix actually warms my soups up a little bit during this cold Michigan winter. Just enough so that the enzymes are still there. What do you put in your smoothies?

I bought a vitamix in december after a doctors appointment last year. I went to a clinic on my husbands blue cross and was faced with this arrogent young woman D.O... who was assigned to me through the insurance.
who rebuttled all my health problems with:
    "we all get old"...
I'm 48 and in good shape, no meds...
and had a small problem with a lump in my thyroid. She said she could not see or feel it and it was my imagination.
I went to another doctor who ran tests and I had a lump, which further appointments deemed " enlarged parathyoid nodule" and not cancerous.

after that I thought about the sorry state of the medical world, cracker jack doctors and decided I want to STAY healthy and bought a vitamix.

I hope to never deal with doctors in my entire life. I can't stand them.

hence a new vitamix and learning about raw food.

    It actually tastes good

i do mostly a raw food diet too.
every now & then i dont mind a steamed veggie or two.

but i noticed a HUGE difference when I stopped consuming all dairy products.

i'm lactose intolerant, but more importantly, dairy, FOR ME, should not have been consumed after infancy. It makes me ill, digestive problems (which as you all know can lead to other problems: headaches, muscle aches, mood changes....)... and I get constant sinus problems when i consume dairy.

I do still consume a little yogurt (i need culture! ) here & there.
But other than that, nothing else!

As many of you know, I dont consume meat, but that's, again, FOR ME, my choice.

To reiterate the point of this, what you eat DOES affect YOU.

So checking for allergies/sensitivities is a great way to find out if what you are eating could be what's eating you.

(please don't take this as a converting message... just my story to you.)

I felt better too when I got off milk. I can handle some dairy but tended to get gassy and bloated when drinking cows milk.
Now switched to vanilla soy and no problems.

I was told when I was a baby they had to give me goats milk because I puked up all the cows milk in the formula...
so maybe I'm lactose intolerant too. All I know is I feel better off milk.. and I limit my cheese and other dairy or I'll be gassy all day with a mild stomach-ache.
I've only been married less than a year, can't be a gassy newleywed. lol

It is very hard to relate to a person when they have a closed mind! A closed mind can be a very dangerous thing and there are plenty of Dr's who do have them. There is nothing that cannot be cured by giving the bodies cells what they need and by getting rid of the toxins as well. Raw Food has done some remarkable things for peoples wellbeing. Good for you for taking your health into your own hands! I took mine into my own hands about 20 years ago and have never looked back.....except for a couple of fractures. Dr's excell when it comes to trauma. Thanks for sharing your story with us. And thank you too Sue:-)
Just one more thing and I would like to know if either of you have found that since you started raw, have you actually lost the desire to eat much cooked food? Cooked just does not taste the same to me anymore. Other's on my raw support board say the same thing.

    for the most part yeah.
but there are some things i still really like and "indulge" in.
i do like steamed broccoli, but don't like it raw, for instance. lol

another example of helping my family, is for dinner, i'll make them spaghetti, and whatever i want (unless i'm craving carbs, like after a workout), i'll have a plate of cut cucumbers and tomatoes. a little "side salad" in a way to add to.

fruits aren't real big in our house. it's like pulling teeth to get someone (other than me) to eat 'em. So I end up *yuck* cooking apples, pears & such (usually w/a little oj & dark brown sugar).
Otherwise, "oj is a fruit" is what I'll get. *SIGH!* (let's not talk about sugars...) LOL

but, i kinda change with the weather.
in winter i want warm/hot foods (soups usually) and summer, cool foods (usually uncooked).
so i end up with a lotta soups, oatmeals and such in winter (with raw food snacks).
