Default Does anyone know a homemade concoction that takes down the redness in your face?

BTW--it is NOT rosacea. Doctor's have said it is just ruddiness. It's the way I've always been. Redness on nose, cheeks, and chin. Especially as I've gottne older. I'm all blotchy looking. Looks like I've been drinking. And when I HAVE had a glass of wine or something--WHOA!

So--I don't think Prosacea would work. And I have put off buying any of the anti-redness creams and lotions, like Aveeno and Eucerin, till I could see if there was something I could do besides put my face in ice water all day.

Anyone have any ideas? Lemons? Yogurt? Honey? One of those home remedies?

I don't have a remedy, but I feel for you! I have the same problem. People always think I'm blushing. Ugh!

try some fade cream, they sell it at walgreens or any drug store, its cheap... might work for you.
you have to apply it for weeks before you see any results.

It sounds like you may have some inflammation going on that is causing the redness to your face. What are your eating habits like? And also, are you drinking enough pure water on a daily basis? Divide your weight by 2 and that is the number of oz's that one should be drinking on a daily basis. All whole fruits and veggies and organic eggs and wild salmon are natural anti-inflammatories. Also, processed sugar and refined salt can cause redness/inflammation. And the last thing I can mention here is to be very careful about what you put on your skin. Look for organic products with just a few ingredients. Skincare products that are made with unnatural ingredients can do alot of damage . We are what we absorb through our skin as well. I sure hope that you can find a remedy and feel better very soon.

    i have this same problem!!!

people are constantly asking me if im blushing, nervous, angry, if i was crying and the especially annoying part is when its someone who has already asked me why im "so red" before (and on several occasions) and ive already explained that its just the way i am sometimes. when i was a kid i got alot of the ... oh so cute, naturally blushing cheeks but now as an adult i cant stand it. i feel like i always have to explain that no there is nothing wrong with me, no i am not steaming mad or was crying, this is just the way my skin is! so you can imagine what my face looks like when i am upset LOL.

i will be watching this thread to see if anyone suggests anything i might want to try too. - glad to know im not alone.

me too, people ask me about my blood presssure. or rosacea.

i find i look better after a baking soda scrub. less blotchy. exfoliated too.
(at least i think i do, ha ha )
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

    Thanks all!

My BP has been a little higher the last couple of times at the doctor.

COUNTRYBUMPKIN--I have been gradually trying to change to organic, and botanical/natural products. But, I haven't wanted to just run out and buy all new everything. I did get a couple of things at Target today--they are getting more and more organic skin care, and so is Meijer's.

My eating habits are atrocious--that is more likely the problem. I have been watching the salt due to the BP. Water is on again-off again.

I was told I have a lot of capillaries very close to the skin surface in my face, so I redden a lot. When I had my 9# babies, I was all bruised in the face from bursting capilaries with the pushing. I looked purple. LOL! :surprise:

If your looking for a natural product like yougurt or honey...
I will tell you I saw lots of soaps and creams in the health food store for all kinds of things.
Could be your face is sensitive or your soap is too harsh...
why dont you go to a local health food store and start there?
    Maybe try some milder soap.

If you smoked like me, ( constricted blood vessels) you'd have capillarys so tight you could bounce quarters off them
but I wouldnt take up smoking.

You could also have a food allergy that aggrivates your skin with certain foods.
Could be some added water and sunshine might help... and a mild non soap type soap ( healthfood store)
I also like that Dr. Bronners peppermint soap...
its supposed to cure everything and worth a shot if you choose to stay on the natural route going from less aggessive to more agressive with finding something to help your problem.

I don't have a home made tip but I wanted to tell you Cabbie that I tried the Eucerin for redness.(I have the Retin-A flush and very sensitive skin.)The Eucerin did not help and it stung.

annymoll--ewww. I'm not interested in spending $13.00 to make my face sting. It is probably my bad eating habits, etc.

I was going to gripe about the cost, but decided I was too ashamed of what I'd paid for the crap.(Hides face in shame)

You can have trouble (both with skin and with capillaries) if you are not getting enough of the right kind of fats in your diet. Try taking a fish oil or Omega 3-6-9 additive, or add flax seeds to your breakfast cereal (1/4 cup per day).
