Belly fat Is Linked To Dementia Risk
http://health.usnews.com/articles/he...ntia-risk.html
You've heard the message: Having a bulging belly can be detrimental to your health. Extra weight around the midsection is known to increase one's risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and early death. Now a new study, published today in the journal Neurology, suggests that having a larger belly in middle age may increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

I am afraid I don't pay much attention to these any more since I discovered that the BMI ratings used by the world health organization are based on a study funded by a group that lobbys for a diet company. Fat is a money making industry. It's the only one that makes billions of dollars a year and hardly ever produces any sort of long term result.
Don't worry about it. Eat healthy, exercise and do things that make you happy and all will be well. 20, 30 or even 40 extra pounds are not going to make you a demented old person, but if enough people believe it than the diet industry will make a few million more this year.

I am right there with everyone else. I ought to be drooling also by now. Really, I need to get myself together and get rid of this extra weight, because I am on meds for high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
But as shown in the quote above, we should be really afraid for our children. This took any humor out of the subject for me.Hello from Sunny Central Florida

Did any of you know that the medical terminology for "belly fat" is really visceral fat? This is the fat that wraps itself around your organs and is in fact a very hard fat to get rid of.It also wraps itself around the liver and the liver tries to process this and releases cholesterol into your system. this also greatly increases your chance of having a heart attack or stroke. Not a very cheerful subject, but one that needs to be addressed. This is one of the hardest fats to get rid of but can be greatly reduced by eating a whole food diet and doing interval exercises. Also by keeping your hormones regulated and drinking plenty of pure water.
About our children....it is very alarming that America's children are being diagnosed with type two diabetes, cancer and other dis-eases at such a young age.
It is so important for parent's to take the initiative and learn about feeding the family a natural wholefoods diet. This could all be prevented for the most part if parent's would just take the time to learn about nutrition, shop for and prepare nutritious meals.
And also...... if only our kids would just go outside and become more active....the way it was when I was a kid! We were never indoors! We were alway's outside in the fresh air and playing with the other neighborhood children.
