Default how much water is too much

I have watched the news alot debunking the "8 glasses a day" standard.

Now, I drink way more than that a day the first few days following my period. Stress and weather makes me drink more too. I have tried to look it up, and i found too much is lethal. But exactly how much is lethal? in how much time?? I drink about ... i dunno, a half gallon or more in a day after the period... :surprise:

So what's the too much? What are the symptoms of too much?

A woman died of water intoxication a few months ago. So these articles may have updated information for you. There is no clear cut answer because everyone is different so you will need to know your body.

Half a gallon isn't too much. Half a gallon is 64oz...which is the eight 8oz glasses they used to say was what your body needed.

Obviously if you're thirsty enough to need 64oz and it's actual thirst that's making you drink then you'd be fine....barring other medical issues like diabetes or something that would increase your thirst.

I'm personally most comfortable at six or seven 8oz glasses. More than that and I feel like I'm floating....constantly floating to the bathroom lol.

I'm going to be one of those little old ladies in the nursing home that they'll have to pry a syringe into my mouth to make me drink water. Seriously! I need to learn how to drink water. I know I'm not drinking enough.

I drink lots of water Missy and the only problems I have from it are

I personally think that if you're drinking so much that it can actually be dangerous you'd feel seriously over full and bloated.

We had a discussion about this at work the other day.... bear in mind that I work in a nursing home. The common concensus seemed to be tha when your urine is nearly clear, you're well-hydrated, regardless of how many glasses of water you're drinking. (Although on certain vitamin suppliments your urine will always be bright yellow.)

I heard about a radio show that had a contest to see who could drink the most water without going to the bathroom. A woman died doing this and the radio station got in alot of trouble. As long as you go to the bathroom when you need to after drinking alot of water I would think it would be fine.
