Treating athletes foot
My ds has athletes foot and i am wondering if anyone has a home remedy. The products from the store are so expensive. Thanks for any ideas.

don't fool around-- it is contagious. now go to the store and get some desenex or tinactin.
Good luck!11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

My father is prone to athletes foot. Mom has found that over the counter "yeast infection" external cream works better and faster. The external cream is pretty cheap too. The theory is that they both stem from fungi. Never tried it personally but mom swears by it. (Dad just asks her for the athletes foot medicine and she hands it to him) Ask the pharmascist, they might even suggest that you try it if looking for a less expensive version of tinactin.

Tea tree oil has anti fungal properties to it. It might not work the best to get rid of the atheletes foot, but it might be a preventative. You will want something you can spray in shoes as they tend to give the fungus a cozie warm and occasionally moist place to live.

Wear only white socks, change daily or twice daily, dry between toes with hair dryer after bathing, wear only leather shoes, air feet out, cut back somewhere and purchase foot POWDER spray and tell him to USE it. if does not heal with spray, seek dr...also sign of diabetes.

During the summer I have a problem with Athletes Foot. I have tried Tea Tree oil which worked. I just put about 4-5 drops on each foot and rub it around especially between the toes.
Also I get a large bowl and put in hot tap water and about a cup of Apple Cider Vinegar and soak my feet for about 30 minutes.
Also I use a pumice stone on my feet daily.

Some people have luck wiping rubbing alcohol between the toes daily. And, of course, changing your socks every day. Scrub out the shower/tub between use with something like Comet.

Thank you everyone for your tips and suggestions. We are washing and spraying feet with a foot powder spray 2 times a day and changing socks several times throughout the day.

If price is an issue, go for the store brand Tinactin. My Dr told me a long time ago, that a tiny bit of the stuff goes a long way, so buy a small tube as you probably won't need a bunch of the stuff.
