I had all 4 done at once when I was 16. All four were impacted, I woke up twice during the surgery....mine was a true horror story! I also had 2 dry sockets, one on each side of my mouth, but I lived. Despite complications and pain I didn't miss a single day of school.

Good luck to you! For what it's worth, mine were a horror story to the dentist, but did not cause much trouble to me (after being removed). I had all 4 impacted and they had grown into my bones, so they had to break my face to get them out. The swelling lasted about a week, and I did not need pain killers even the next day. I remember having to pack them with wet tea bags (plain old black tea - not herbals), which I think had to do with keeping the openings from getting an infection and helping stop the bleeding. I actually walked down the hallway in the dentist's office to ask how long I had to stay (unaware that nobody could understand me), and the nurse fainted dead away. The Dr. came out to see why she screamed and fell, looked at me and hollered "YOU can't be out here? You'e supposed to still be out cold! Get BACK in that chair!" So I did. He was awfully embarrassed about it later, and I thought it was hilarious - kind of like much of my life. I hope you have such an easy time healing! Take your vitamins!

I made it!!
The actual procedure wasn't bad. We got there a few minutes early. They got me in at 9:40am. Got me hooked up to the IV, oxygen cannula (sp), and gave me the general anesthesia. It took a few minutes, but one second we're talking & the next I'm out cold lol.
I do remember waking up and groaning for just a second, hearing a drill sound *shudder*. I also remember hearing the dentist say more than once "her mouth is too small" lol. I need him to tell my mom that
Next thing I know the nurse is waking me up. I guess they had a hard time with the "extra" wisdom tooth I had. It was fully impacted and only the size of a large pea. They almost weren't able to get it. I ended up with dissolve-able stitches on that side. That was on my upper jaw.
I was done by 10:30am. Dh brought me home, got my prescriptions and an iced coffee (I was STARVING and had a killer caffeine headache before the procedure). I took the meds and passed out in the recliner until 1pm when the stinking phone rang. I was LOOPY before the nap lol.
The uppers aren't bothering me in the slightest. They were fully erupted and aside from the extra one, very easy to pull. The bottom ones are another story. Especially the one on the right. It was giving me problems before the extraction, mostly impacted and the part that was out was rubbing my cheek. He said that would be the one that would give him the most trouble. That's the one that's the most sore. It's also giving me the most problems with bleeding. I have tea soaked gauze in there now. It seems to be helping.
The vicodin he prescribed is making me nauseous. Combined with the blood I have to swallow (no spitting allowed) it's pretty yucky. The bottle says to take with food if it makes you nauseous, but that's pretty impossible right now lol. All I've had all day is a few sips of iced coffee...enough to get the meds down. My throat is still pretty sore and until the last 20 minutes or so my mouth/lips/tongue were so numb it was next to impossible to swallow anything.
All in all, so far it hasn't been too awful. No outrageous pain, thankfully. Now my next goal is to avoid dry socket.
