oh my god
do you know how much it hurts to throw up after having your teeth pulled?

my face is definitely swollen now. Especially the side where the stitches are. My face exploded in pain, I thought I was going to pass out from pain. Luckily I didn't have any gushes of blood or anything. Just lots of pain.
And it wasn't even the pain pill that made me sick. I was due for one, but hadn't taken it yet. Thank God. I just took it. Of course, it's after 5pm and the dentist is closed so I can't even call & ask if a) throwing up is normal and b ) if the instant swelling afterward is something to be alarmed about

I don't think it normal to throw up but as long as you don't continue to I wouldn't worry. Probably too much blood in your tummy.
I hope you get some good sleep tonight and feel better in the morning.

Hopefully you can just go to bed and sleep and in the morning it will be much better.

It may help to put some ice on you face. I use a bag of frozen peas, and no longer than 15 to 20 minutes at a time.
I HATE to throw-up--can't even imagine doing it after having 4 teeth dug out of my head.

Does the dentist have an after hours number? I wouldn't hesitate to call if I had a question.

Oh, you poor girl - sometimes, if someone has had general anesthesia, they throw up afterward. Also, could you possibly be having an allergic reaction to the pain pills? when I had my tubes reversed, they sent me home w/ a pain med that made me nauseated - I couldn't keep anything down & was sooo sleepy. Dh got spooked & took me to the ER - I was having an allergic reaction & they had to give me some anti-nausea meds & cut my dose of pain meds by 1/2.

Where you put under or put into La-La Land? It could be the Anesthesia wearing off....take it easy, be careful about sucking through a straw too hard (dry socket) and lay down. Also, don't take Motrin - causes bleeding.
Take Care Girl! Been there and done that; I have you in my thoughts.Donna F.

I did the exact same thing, it's how I found out I'm allergic to codeine. I'd call the after office hours number.

There's no after hours number. I threw up again...this time about 45 minutes after taking the Vicodin (hydrocodone).
I'm not going to take anymore of the Vicodin. The pain isn't that bad anymore. If I need, I'll just take an extra strength tylenol. And if I keep throwing up, I'll have dh take me to Urgent Care. At the very least for some anti-nausea meds.
I'm a little perturbed with my dentist. I mean, it's FRIDAY and there's no after hours number? that means no contact w/ them until MONDAY?? Grrr.

If you aren't in too much pain, I would not take the pain meds. You may be having a reaction to them. I have a tough time with pain medicine...runs in my family. At least I don't see myself getting hooked on pain meds! LOL! Other than that it could be the anesthesia OR you could have swallowed a good bit of blood. When my DD had hers out the surgeon called that evening to check on her. And when my dentist pulled mine, he called that evening to check on me. Hopefully someone will call you tonight to see how you are doing. (((HUGS)))

I'm perturbed with the oral surgeon who did the procedure. No one has called to check...even my regular dentist called to check on me after my root canal.
I *finally* got a return call on my message. Which is a relief...even though the answering machine says they'll get back to you the next business day, obviously there's some kind of answering service for after hours. The oral surgeon who returned my call seemed surprised that the other dr didn't already prescribe an anti-nausea medication. He called one in for me. Dh is picking it up now. Hopefully it works. Otherwise, it's suppositories

Did you have general anesthesia? If so, that is causing you to throw up. It won't last long. Just has to get out of your system.

Ugh!!!! Glad they finally called something in for your nausea. I still would avoid the pain pills and just take whatever you'd take for a REALLY bad headache. Hope you get to sleep soem of it off with a good long sleep tonight. You might want to think about going in for them to look at it Monday after the throwing up. I definately second that you DO NOT want dry socket!!!
