When my two year old has problems with eczema since he was a baby. My son use to scratch him face so much that it would bleed, so I made sure to cut his fingernails frequently. We do have luck with Aquaphor and the hydrocortisone creams. The Aveeno for baby was fine for us too. My peditrician also recommended during bath time to not let him stay in very long.

I have exzema and my little ones get it around the diaper area - we have a cream for it. My exzema is caused from chemicals - cleaing supplies, etc. I use gloves when I wash dishes and clean with cleaners. I was folding blankets yesterday that dh put too much liquid fabric softener in and needless to say last night into today I have a few spots.
Allergies and exzema usually go hand in hand, so try to use products without fragrances. This is especially true if you use lotions and bath soap on him. Also try giving him oatmeal baths. My friend's kid had really bad excema and allergies, including milk, nuts and other stuff. He is 10 now and has gotten better, yet he still has a few problems with grass and nuts. As he gets older you may want to have him tested for allergies.

You can buy oatmeal and powderized it yourself in a blender to put in baths
For my 2 year old I use Gentle Naturals baby cream, Aquaphor, dye and perfume free detergents and I limit her baths
It's easier to keep on top of things because when they break out bad with it it's hard to get it under control again.

My DS9 had this as an infant and we finally had to see a dermatologist. It was a pretty simple once we got the itching under control with Benadryl. I wouldn't recommend using any medication without first checking with the doctor.
Aquaphor is good and so is Eucerin as moisturizers.Wife to Kevin: 20 years

Wesley has eczema really bad. We have to limit the amount of baths he takes (not every, usually every other or every free). He has a prescription lotion that the doctor gave us.

I've got a 2 year old who has terrible eczema and always has. Aquaphor, applied throughout the day, is a life-saver. He also has a prescription cream that we have to use when it gets really red. You may want to see a dermatologist.

DS #1 had it really bad as an infant on his forhead and face. We had a prescription for it and it usually cleared up within a few days. As he got older around 2 he just had it on his ankles. Now he is 6 and doesn't have it at all. He was also allergic to milk products. Now he is able to drink regular milk.
DS #2 has a little bit on his face and also has a presciption which clears it up within a day or two.Leah

My cousin suffered with ezcema her whole life until she was diagnosed with celiac's disease at 60. She cut all gluten from her diet and she was amazed along with her digestive problems, her skin cleared up. She had a gluten allergy all along but not until it had slowly caused damage to her small intestine over the years and digestive problems started, she was ever tested for food allergies.

Both of my kids have eczema, my daughter gets it really bad where it is bright red and flaky and several times I have had to reassure my DH that it is just her eczema flaring. Definately try to bathe every other or every three days, do not use bubble bath or anything like that in the tub, and slather on the aquaphor (we should all do a commercial for the stuff but it works better than anything else). You will notice changes in theweather (however small) can make it flare. When my son started soccer this year it was still quite chilly (40ish) and a couple of practices they both looked like I had scrubbed them raw with a brush. Good luck and sorry your little one has to deal with this.

I use plain water in the bath and I wash them with Ivory bar soap. Once in awhile in the summer I will do a little bubble bath and it will not affect them but I am only able to get away with it in the summer. The soap in the water tends to dry their skin out more.
