Default Stumbled upon an interesting weightloss site

    http://www.nowloss.com/how-to-lose-5...n-5-months.htm

It has a calculator where you plug your own numbers in and it tells you how many calories a day to eat to lose X amount of pounds. There are other features to the site as well that might prove helpful. I've bookmarked it and am going to refer to it again later. Lemme know what you think.

it's interesting on a superficial level.
however it doesnt specify the types of foods you need to be eating.

it goes for 5 to 8 mos of losing about 50 lbs.

that's a good way to go, slowly. but the guidelines ONLY tell you the calories you need to intake in order to lose, and several are VERY risky.

I don't like this site personally, because it doesnt have disclaimers of "eating too little food/nutrients/etc."

When I put in my information it had me at one point eating for approx. ONE MONTH only 700 calories (that's not the lowest it went, however).

It's neat for a quick look at "what could I do"... but I wouldnt recommend this site to anyone who's really trying to lose a lot of weight.

The other thing it did not do, was help the person who wanted to lose only 10 pounds or so. It only tells you how to lose 50 pounds. I weigh 131 and would like to take 10 off, but it actually gave me numbers to weigh 81 pounds (I am 5 foot 7). hmmmmmmmm

it's not perfect, and I see the formula it's using to determine the weight loss numbers it gives you.
    and that's ALL it's doing.

    But, PrairieRose, Thanks for sharing!
    I hope I didn't rain your parade.

It's a neat tool to show that you SHOULD lose weight slowly, as it does display - about 5 lbs per month (or less).

It IS possible, and I like any extra weightloss tools, as long as their reasonable.

Thanks... I actually did find it useful... I've been trying to lose over 100 (no, not a typo) and I have been trying every 'lose quick' idea I can come across...

Yes, this didn't give me a written menu (don't like half of the menus out there anyways) it gave me a total to shoot for... it didn't have bells and whistles (less to have to keep up with) ... what it did do for me, is remind me I didn't wake up overweight one day... I most likely gained it 5 pounds a month

It did what other programs I have looked in to didn't... break it down... in numbers... staring me in the face...
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

At first I didn't notice the advice on NOT eating too few calories either. But if you read some of the links and comments from others there it's there. It also says somewhere and I need a shower now after my 45 minute workout (that has worked beautifully for losing over 80 pounds over 2 years, qualifies as slowly, yes?) that if you have fewer than 50 pounds to lose don't do this or that ..... . It is a quick link but didn't the title say something like " To try to Lose 50 pounds in 5-8 months" right, so it's just a quickie thing to help you calculate if you have a lot to lose.

Like some of you've said, I've not found the one perfect tool for losing weight yet (even weight w@tchers left some to be desired for me) but I glean a little here and there. Putting together what works for me (and I suggest that we all do that) from bits and pieces of all of it. Glad you looked at it. I think some of the links therein are more helpful than the main page, actually.

I'm only 10 pounds from my goal as well and I think I'm gonna try the calorie recommendations it gives me for my height and age. I think I've been eating too few calories and I'm gonna go back to working out first thing in the morning...we used to do that early on.....

Good ideas, and good websites. There are several things that I found on the website that I can use and some I can't but I can surely fit it for my purposes.
