Afternoon Snack - 3 mugs of black coffee (6 calories) and one large glass of water. I want to point out that I know that this isn't a 'real' snack. I intended on having an apple or a banana; it just didn't happen.

Supper - a large 'spring leaf' salad with carrots, green peppers, about 6 ounces of steak and 4 tbsp of calorie-wise salad dressing (approx. 400 calories) and a large glass of water. The rest of the family had steak & potatoes. I skipped on the potatoes tonight. Then they had chocolate bars for dessert. I stayed focused and didn't have a bite.

Total Daily Calorie Intake - 888

If I get the munchies later this evening, I plan on having a few cups of air-popped popcorn with nothing on it or a fruit of some kind. Other than that I'll try filling up on water, water, water.

    Happy New Years Day, everyone!

My January 1st weigh in is 128.4 lbs. My goal is to maintain between 126 lbs and 128 lbs and do a minimum of 10 tummy crunches every day.

We can do it! Let's not give up! (...and if you do, just jump back in!) We're doing it so that our bodies will be healthier and stronger! "Go, us, go!!!"

Woo hoo! Thanks for starting us up madhen!

Congrats QM on the 'new' additions to your daycare!

I am back in again and weighed myself this morning to start fresh. I did gain a little over two pounds last week. Surprise, surprise but it didn't help having pizza and wine last night so I am back on track today!

I officially lost 30 pounds last year and my goal for this year is another 30 pounds.

Welcome to all the new faces! I am glad to see you are jumping right in. You will love it here.

MrsMcD, I too find my stomach, legs and arms are much stronger since starting the monkey crunches/push ups. They really help!

Off to start the day with lots of water and cleanse myself from all the wine from last night's indulgence out of my body!

Happy New Year! I am back with you! The last several weeks, I sort of dropped out, and my weight yesterday showed it. I must get control of this, and not let the stress surrounding me tempt me to eat comfort food. My goal is 20 pounds off this year. Also will be continuing my Curves workouts, and want to increase my walking. Walking right now is a little hazardous up here, as everything is covered with ice and snow (I fell last week on it and am still recuperating).

Thanks for all the support last year, and I'm looking forward to more of the same.

    Breakfast today: coffee and ostakaka.

    Financial:

    2. Get some balance in my life.
    3. Lose weight. Hopefully 5# this year. (9.5 pounds right now! Yay, Me!!)
    4. Continue to be looking for how God wants to use me this year.

I don't like walking where I am at this time of year...too much snow and ice. I wouldn't even attempt it, although I'm very sure others walk outside for exercise in these conditions.

Do you have any malls around where you are where you could speed walk? It would be a lot safer, I'm sure. As long as you can avert your eyes forward and not get distracted by the wonderful sales and stuff retailers are trying to get you to buy, that's an idea.

I would like to join and I think this will be my favorite challenge. Normally weight loss would be my least favorite thing but after reading this thread and seeing all of the encouragement I think I will have fun with this.
I would like to lose 40 lbs. I have it broken down into different levels though.
    1. need to lose 9 lbs.
    2. need to lose 14 lbs.
    3.need to lose 6lbs.
    4. need to lose 10 lbs.
This will put me at the different goals that I would like to achieve. It is weird how one certain number will make you feel better. I am going to start by drinking more water, drop the pop habit I picked up in the last 6 months. I also need to ban McDonalds which I started eating again in the last few months. It is amazing how after I stopped eating there for a couple months it just seemed gross to me and I didn't have any desire for it but then I started eating there again and it all went down hill. I think I am addicted to their sweet tea. lol. I also need to add some exercise.

It is fun when you start seeing results from all the hard work and patience. The thing with weight loss is that no matter where you are in our journey, we all have the same struggles and temptations. From experience, it's not fun in the present moment when you're refraining from a cookie or a piece of cake or overeating, but in the end it is rewarding to see the results from the perserverance that went into it.

You may find that dropping the pop habit will take a little time. How much pop do you drink a day? Cutting back slowly would probably help so that your body doesn't go into shock and starts to feel too deprived.

I, too, kind of like McDonalds as gross as that is. The reason we don't go there often is because I'm too cheap and want to save our hard earned cash. Do you find that after a full meal you start to get gut-rot? You know that it can't be too healthy for you when that happens. I've never had tea there. (I'm not that big of a tea drinker.) Although I do like their coffee; they've changed their brew and it tastes much better.
