PET Scan Tomorrow

Back in June, when I had my CA125 blood work done, my cancer marker numbers rose from 13 to 33. Normal range is 0 to 35, so I was still in "normal" range, but my onconologist wanted me to have a PET done then. Well my insurance put up an argument claiming that since I was still in normal range, they didn't want to pay, and wanted me to have my blood tested again. Well I did, and the numbers went up yet again to 143.7. So I can get the test done.

I'm pretty scared, and that poor nurse who called to confirm the ins. approval, had to listen to me break down and cry over the phone. I think I've been holding it all in for so long now, the ~realization~ of it all hit me like a ton of bricks, and I couldn't hold back. But she was such a sweetie, and I couldn't apologize enough to her. She told me to put my faith in God, and she also told me that it's not just cancer that can make the numbers go up, but also things like having any kinda "itis" in my body. Now I have a blood clot in my leg that I got from the cancer, and sometimes I get cellulitis from it. So I'm thinking (and hoping) that maybe that's what it is. I'll get my results Monday or Tuesday, and I know I'll be jumping everytime the phone rings. This phone call could change our lives. It's going to be a long, long weekend.

But ya know, I have alot of support from my family and Congregation. I need to stay optimistic about this no matter what the results. With the help of God, I made it thru 3rd stage uterine cancer already. If it IS anything, at least it's caught early. THAT'S a BIGGIE!

A person's outlook is the other. I truly believe that.

I am so very sorry you are having to go through this. It has got to be nerve racking..........hang in there. We will all send positive vibes to you.

Be sure to update us when you know.

Will they be able to remove the blood clot in your leg to get the numbers back down.....if they find/figure that is the cause?
