madkat - Your baby is a teenager! What a sad feeling that must be! Does it seem like yesterday she was a baby in your arms?
Vanilla - Good to hear from you!
The get-together has been cancelled for tonight because the hostess' son is sick. Now I've got to phone my parents and tell them I will take the girls to AWANA. So much for my break.
I still need to putter around the house and tidy even though that lady isn't coming over this evening. This house doesn't seem to want to tidy itself...If you will live like no one else, later you can live like no one else.

Ugh, folks! I came down with the flu yesterday, but today I feel even worse. Polly, too brain foggy to even come out with a soup recipe for you from all of those ingredients. Sorry!
QM and Deb C get well soon.
Folks even on days that I am well, I know that I will not be able to write long replies, but I do often hit the hug button after reading posts and I will try and highlight a few people each day. Eventually, I will get around to everyone if I just highlight a few people daily. Know that I do read the posts and that I do think of all of you and say prayers when I feel that they are needed.
Gotta go and check the laundry. I had let it slide. I am just doing three loads of laundry today. Will do FIL laundry tomorrow. Don't feel like doing anything but ocassional web surfing today. I am hoping not to spread the flu to anyone else in the house, but I think that dh has it. He threw up twice yesterday. However, his nerves do that to him too and he has a lot on his mind right now. Poor guy.
Well, hugs to all and I will check in later.

Good morning! So much going on here...sorry about all of the illnesses going around...we've got some here too and Polly reminded me that I need my vitamin C. My throat is already a little sore.
FW...Coyotes? That sounds scary! Playing Zombies and Humans sounds like lots of fun! I want to do that! Did you see the bear cub in the produce section of a grocery store on the news? LOL!
Gah...I can't remember what anyone said...anyway, I made chocolate-dipped, mummy pretzel rods for the two youngest boys to take to school to share with their friends at lunch...didn't send them for the whole class.
We're supposed to have bad weather tonight with high winds and rain. It's clear and sunny now. My Mom asked us to go to Revival with them...not sure I want to go. I like the pastor that will be speaking, but would really like to rest especially since Mondays and Wednesdays are so busy for me since dh works two jobs those days and I have to have his supper done in time, etc. I also haven't worked out since Sat. and need to do that. I think I've gained a pound that I don't want! Well, I'll figure it all out later...
My friend that lives in Myrtle Beach called this past weekend and told me that her Dad has brain cancer. They operated and couldn't get it all so he's going to have chemo and radiation. She and her dh and kids were supposed to leave on a cruise last Wed., but didn't get to go 'cause of her Dad's surgery. She lost all of her money 'cause she didn't get trip insurance...stupid!
I need to make middle child an appointment with his audiologist 'cause he won't wear his hearing aids...says they don't fit right anymore. I dread going because new hearing aids cost over $2000 and insurance doesn't cover them! If it's just a case of new casings, they "only" cost a few hundred each I believe. He left his jacket at school yesterday in the chorus room and I told him that he'd better get it back today 'cause he won't be getting another one...this is the special kind of jacket that they can wear inside...specific guidelines on what can be worn inside the school (anal-retentive if you ask me). He's already had his assignment book stolen and it'll cost money to replace that. Youngest ds was supposed to turn in his Christmas wreath orders yesterday and left them in his desk (which has had multiple items stolen from it)! Fortunately there was no cash...only checks, but still...I called the office today and hope that they found the stuff. Youngest ds said that he didn't know what was in the envelope...just put it into his desk...sigh...children...
My Mom just informed me yesterday that she turned in her notice and will be retiring. She gave them plenty of time to find someone else as she doesn't want to leave until the end of Dec. Kind of makes me nervous 'cause she and my Dad lost a lot in the stock market...I don't like the idea of them living off of retirement and SS. I think it scares me 'cause if something were to happen, I wouldn't have any way of helping them. My whole life I had planned to be a surgeon and knew that they would want for nothing if I was...now, I'm...nothing...can't help them if they need it.
Well, I'm going to go now...very tired today...take care everyone!

Polly, I posted an easy soup recipe for you! It would be easy for you to whip up today with what you have on hand.

Val - I think it normal to be concerned when there's change, but we have to believe we're on the right path. We can't really know where the other choice would have taken us. KWIM
Isn't health insurance the pits? This isn't covered & that isn't, but who can take a chance on not having it. Hope they can make adjustments to the hearing aids that will be less expensive. Its tough trying to budget medical stuff with the cost of insurance.
Gotta run... hope those feeling under the weather (AM2, Deb, Polly, QM & Val) will feel better soon. Hope to catch up w/everyone a little later.

Janie, thanks for the hugs.
Dean, try and pace yourself under that heavy work load.
To all of my fellow SI who are under the weather. Let's all take whatever vitamins that we have on hand and hope to feel better soon. My dh is the best. Bless his heart. He has caught my stomach flu, but has still done so many things for me this morning. Trash, helping with laundry, fixing me breakfast, making me a gingerale soda steam all before he starts his day and he even said that he would take his dad's mail to the post office for me. What a great guy!
Valerian, so sorry about your insurance issues and money issues. They both can be troublesome can't they? I feel for you!
Well, I've gotta rest awhile. Will check back later. Polly, I hope that you and your dh are feeling better soon and that you and he enjoy Valerian's soup recipe.

Sorry that the flu and cold bugs are already making their way into so many lives - take care my friends. Have noticed over the past few years that it seems to take longer to recover from everything and then the possibility of reoccurence is high.
Have a great Tuesday - still digging out from under all the paperwork etc.Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Maui, where have you been? I missed you...
10-18-2011, 01:00 PM #3820
Good afternoon everyone. just got in from work and things are still totally stressed there. No one even smiles any more.
I have laundry to get on the line. Today is suppose to be the last nice day for 3-4 days. Lots of rain in the forecast. Will probably mow some more grass too. DH and DS are doing a siding job, which if the weather holds out, will take about a week to a week and a half. We'll see.
Anyway, have a great afternoon.

Hi all
Busy this morning since I am not feeling too bad. Very lethargic but it was probably from the cold medicine.
FW - sounds like your DS is getting right in his future career role!!
that's great. Sounds like it was more of a coyote but you never know! Glad he's a human instead of a zombie.
Madkat - good to hear from you!! Have a great day!!
Vanilla - good to hear from you too!! Take care of yourself.
A2M - hope you feel better soon! Being sick is crappy.
QM - glad you are feeling a little better.
Val - hope the hearing aids don't cost that much to adjust/replace....especially right at Christmas!!
Polly - take care of yourself. No ideas for soup. Sorry. I am in a fog too.
MM - take care of yourself!!! You tend to overdo it.
Dean - woo hoo on the siding job!! Prayers for the nice weather to hover above you until they're done. Hugs on the work situation. Doesn't make for a nice day.
Been wrapping Christmas gifts and gtting laundry done. Celery in the dehydrator too. Slowly but surely things are getting done with lots of breaks.
Have a great day everyone and hugs to all!Dh Bob

I napped for an hour this morning as I had a fever and felt chilled. Dh surprised me when he came home with some comfort food for me for lunch. It had awakened me from my nap, but I didn't care. That was so thoughtful of him and I was so hungry that it was really appreciated. Well, I have to go for now. I feel another fever coming on.
Maui, good to see your post and Tervsforne as well. Both of you take care of yourselves.
Dean, sorry that work was so hard for you today. Hopefully the weather will hold out for the home improvement work.
Deb C- so glad that you are feeling a little bit better and getting some things accomplished.
Well, I really must head back to bed for now.
