Happy New Year's Eve to everybody! Who's watching the ball drop? I guess I will...the kids like to stay up for it. Dh has crashed...kind of annoys me 'cause we always watch it together. He's gotten to be such a fuddy-duddy.

QM, I'm glad your Grandpa is doing better!

I'm watching a movie on Lifetime and the college kids in it are doing beer bongs...whew...those were the days. I vaguely recall doing that at a party once or twice...crazy! My brother was egging me on if I remember correctly. D*mn, I miss him sometimes not for egging me on...I just miss him...miss seeing what he could and would have become.

My parents' little get-together was nice. They had these spicy crackers that my Mom does with crab dip, spicy-hot chicken wings, wheat thins with green pepper jelly and cream cheese, tortilla chips with cheese sauce, tortilla chips with salsa, paper-thin (almost!) lemon cookies, hot cider, and that might have been all. It was very good and I was stuffed! We went out walking afterwards thank goodness.

Well, I'm going for a bit...might be back later.

QM, I am glad that your grandpa is doing better.

FW, you sure do have alot of fun hunting down deals. Your dinner sounds great too. Sorry that yours and Valerian's dh's are being fuddy duddy's. Maybe they are resting up for a big day of football tomorrow.

Valerian, that meal at your parents house sounds scrumptious. Good thing that you took an evening stroll to burn a few of those calories. I am sorry about your brother.

GaPeach and Tervs, we all plan on helping with tips for one another in 2012 as it seems all of us will be on a tight budget.

    Happy New Year!

    A2M

A2M, my dh doesn't watch sports. He's just 8 years older than me and acting like an old man!

Evening all! Just settling in on the couch with my laptop to watch the ball drop, then I'm off to bed.

FW - I don't think I've heard of that definition of Relax before! I might have to research that some more. Glad your DD seems to have found a nice guy. That's good to hear. Does he have a much older brother? LOL

Val - Sounds like you had a nice night!

a2m - Yep, we will all have to support each other. Money is going to be tight for a lot of us.

QM - glad your grandfather is doing better. My step-mother has alzheimers, it's a brutal disease.

Well, this will be my last post in this thread. I hope everyone has a great night and a very happy New Year!

A2M-my DH doesn't watch sports. He's just a geek for computers. He's 11 mo. younger than me and 20years older at the same time! He's watching best of Top car something or other even though I invited him to spend time w/ me and play board games.

Val-we are dopplegangers in the N and S. AGAIN!. So your missing your Dbro again.

Tomorrow I have a huge ham to cook and some potatoes. I'll wing the rest. I hope to go to S.A. to look at clothes because its 1/2 off all clothes. I'm still looking for extra blankets, quilts and towels too. I think i'll check out the new fabric too!

Tervs-yes! he has 4 other siblings in his adoptive family and a brother in his original. Does it matter that he is the only one not married. The family is ENORMOUS so maybe a cousin.
They have a lovely spread of property w/ 2 stocked ponds and 2 houses (both lovely) sitting on a river. It N of me so not so busy.
P.S.-I am guessing you have not heard of ANY definition of the word relax.lol

I listened to a really great audiobook that discussed recipes that were gathered through this program. A lot of the writers for the recipes were unemployed authors who later became very well known. I think the book was Food for a Simpler Time, or something like that. I may still have it in my iTunes.
