Thank you, Sumacaroni. The news is not good. I have stage 3 invasive cancer of the milk ducts. I am scheduled for a masectemy on Jan. 18. They haven't gotten the tests back to see how much it has spread. By the lumps in my neck, I'm betting it's already in my lymph nodes.
My husband and I just broke the news to our kids, ages 12, 10, and 9. It was the most horrible thing I have ever had to do.

I am so very sorry, I have been thinking of you and praying for you often. Sorry to hear your news but wish you the best of care and the most aggressive treatment they have to offer. It's a long road and I'll continue only the best, most positive thoughts along with my prayers for your full remission. {Hugs to you, your husband, and your kids}

We are having my first meeting with the oncologist and my
"team" in 2 hours. My husband took the day off of work to go with me (it's 45 minutes away) and I have people lined up to pick up my kids and take them to their homes until we are done. (They are at 2 different schools, with different time schedules).
I just want to crawl back to bed and pretend none of this is happening.

I am feeling much more confident and positive today. I was very impressed with everyone I met, and both my husband and I walked out of there (after 4 hours) feeling very good.
Surgery day has been changed to Jan. 17, and my only option was a masectomy, which I expected. I can't wait to get this over. They did an xrays of my neck, to find out if there are any problems there. If that is good, I will rest a little easier.
I didn't think it was possible, but I actually walked out of there with a smile on my face and feeling hopeful. After 3-4 days our shock at the news is wearing off and the tears are lessening.
I can do this!
I have been fitted for the camisole for after surgery, and I was so touched to also be given a pillow on a long neck strap that was made by a group of volunteers to give to masectomy patients. It has a strap to go around the neck to make it easier to place as needed without too much shifting. I just thought that was wonderful of them to care.
