A2M- insightful question - am not doing as well as I thought/think. Blue funk today thinking about now and the future. Need to to better at being in the present.

I'vedecided that this thread is sort of like our own window on Main Street-catching up with friends as theycome into view!!

Back to my preschoolers today - need to find the toileting chartforthe summer!!

    Hello to all!

OhMom, we do not have any hook ups or place for a personal washer and dryer as we do not live in a stick built house nor do we have a garage that a washer and dryer could be hooked up at.

We had spaghetti for lunch and there was enough leftover for dinner too, so now I do not have to make a separate dinner. Just heat up the lunch leftovers.

I may do some reading tonight. I am trying my best to lower our grocery bill while still eating healthily and not having to coupon too much. I am the worst at leaving paper trails and having coupons does not help this problem any. So far, I have read two low cost cookbooks and now I am reading a book called "Cheap Eating." I am cooking a lot from scratch. Too bad that the recipe section on FV got messed up recently.

Walked for over an hour today. The sun was shining and beautiful, but I was sweating by the time I got home.

Waving to all of you and hoping that you have a good evening.

    A2M

Well, got the cats done and fell asleep to make up for being up all night I guess.
Made sloppy Joes, nathan hot dogs, beans from deli clearance,a can of pineapple, and opened my watermelon. DD invited Bf over. He got fired from his driving job. Thats 2 people out of work this week. He is starting at the discount tire place but its 2-3 hrs a day at minimum until training is over in a month. Hardly enough for gas let alone an apartment.

Starr-thanks,I am enjoying the bed. Poor DH got a bed sore from the last one. I had 3 blankets folded in 1/2. Ridiculous!.

I guess next we have to look at the mailbox. The post is a telephone pole and splitting. I think I want a green one. And water heater. Thats old too. Always sumpin"!

Oh MM-wish you were close. We could resale together. And get craft stuff for you! hugs.
A2M-go after 4th of July to check on clearance meat. Sometimes I get it as he marks it. Spaghetti sounds good. You reminded me I need to finish this weeks menu. Pasta salad for sure. Prob. spaghetti,I got apple to use up so maybe I willput a little choc. syrup on some for DH. And eggs,HB eggs. for sure.

Dh went to his friends to have him help assemble the dryer vent (and have a beer no doubt) because I guess they come flat now? I should run and get some HE laundry soap.

Hello all! It's very quiet here this morning....ds20 is at school and the other two are still asleep...dh is at work.I'm dogsitting for my parents as they've gone to visit poor ailing aunt (she was feeling so bad last week that she skipped her chemo and is going to ask the doctor if she can have it tomorrow). Her days left are few I'm afraid. Dh got another $1 raise (his second one in 10 weeks of employment)! I like this job! LOL! They can keep on doing that! I am so praying and hoping that this company finds something permanent for him that he likes as much as he does now. I like the weekly paychecks versus monthly ones. It's so much easier for me to budget things. I actually got to go to the Super Doubles Coupon thingie at Harris Teeter yesterday (I saved $45 in coupons!). I REALLY like that too!

I'm getting my hair done on Friday and then I've got my three month appointment with my doctor. Maybe you've noticed a pattern here...getting my hair done...going to the doctor...yep, I've got a little crush on him...lol...dh knows and just rolls his eyes. Actually I get my hair done about every 12 weeks so it's just timed the same way.

I cooked chicken tacos last night and when dh saw the off-brand of taco seasoning (also had the same brand of salsa and taco shells), he said "I hope that's gonna taste all right." It was from Aldi's and waaaay cheaper than what I usually buy. Anyway, after he finished eating he said that it was very good. I said, "You turned your nose up at it at first. See, it didn't matter that it came from Aldi's. It was just as good as the usual kind." He's so about not getting the off-brand or store brand. He usually insists that it's not as tasty.

FW, so glad that you got your new mattress! I hope that you'll be getting much more restful sleep from now on.

Maui, you are a better woman than I am! I wouldn't be happy at all if dh went off to live somewhere else for a year especially if it was with his Mom (whom I can't stand!). I realise that you like your MIL though. Hang in there!

A2M, I love, love, love spaghetti! It's my favorite thing! Unfortunately the guys in this house don't care for it much or at all! I could literally eat it every day I believe.

Yay QM! You're back! Missed you!

Hey OM! Have you made that doctor's appointment yet?

Star, that funeral ceremony sounded really special and cool! We had a Confederate funeral (removed him and buried him somewhere else) of one of my great-something's and it was cool too! The body had to lay in state with Confederate reinactors standing guard over it the whole time until the burial. The coffin was brought in by horse and wagon with all of the reinactors marching with it. There was a gun salute, bugels playing, the works. They lowered the coffin with ropes like in the old days. My Mom gave a speech and we all put little Confederate flags on the grave as the living relatives. It was sooooo cool! One of the neatest things I've ever seen!

Well, I've gotta get outta here and do some work or something. BBL probably...

    Good morning friends!!

Okay, so if I hadn't been on the phone with DH last night when it happened, I would never have even mentioned it to him - do not need to add to his worries. I fell (hate to admit it - but again) in our LR. Nothing broken - thank goodness I'm padded - sore all over this morning - ugh. Friend is coming over either this afternoon or tomorrow to help me strip down the LR - talk about immediate action needed to be taken. Was going to stay home from school, then realized that I pick up two of the esy workers.

Truthfully - am I turning into one of those of the older generation that others talk about and worry about?

An addition to stress - DH's sister who lives behind DMIL was not surprised when DH said he was moving back - she said that she was expecting it - what a disappointment as a person much less his sister.

Aargh - off to find some pain killerrs and then off to school. Think I'll take an hourly prayer minute to help get me focused.

Take care my friends - you never know what is coming up next!!

Oh Maui, I am so sorry. If you have any throw rugs in your house those are the first to go. They are so easy to trip over. My grandmother made alot of latch hook rugs. Well, she tripped over one of them in her living room and broke her hip. So glad that nothing is broken, but so sorry about the pain and the fall.

Val, so good to hear from you. That is great that your dh is getting raises especially in this economy.

OhMom, please do make that doctor's appt. We worry about you.

SM, You were missed while you were gone.

FW, thanks for the tip on the reduced sale meats after July 4. I hope that I have room in the freezer. We do not have a full sized fridge and freezer. Not dorm room sized either somewhere in between. So by the time that I put in the ice cube holder and three ice cube trays, there is little room for frozen things. Right now it is stuffed to the gills with 8 pork chops, four chicken breasts and a few bags of frozen veggies.

Waving hello to everyone. Gotta go have several e-mails that need to be answered.

Take care all of you and I will try and be back later.

Oh MM-So glad nothing is broken. I am mad for you at Selfish SIL. I want to box her ears up as we say in my family. POW,POW.lol (MInd your own business FW-pout ok) I will just say I don't understand some people. and leave it at that.
Glad someone can help w/ the living Rm. too.

A2M-you are so welcome. Check the deli for any to go stuff and the bakery because if it says or is themed 4th of july it will be clearanced. I get the cheapest napkins, cupcake papers and plates that way. I also buy glass glasses and dishtowels w/ holiday themes. Sometimes at 90% off!

Well, ate at subway. and it was expensive. My friend wouldn't take the cokes I brought in so we spent for meals-ugh. Believe me when I say the old checking acct. is echoing after all the extra expenses this week or two.
We stopped at dollar tree and I got 8 coke glasses. Nice and heavy w/o flaws. I also found shelf liners.$1 for 30". So I got 5. My cupboards are fiber board 70's cheap and if you set a wet dish in it will get gunk on it. So thats a new project. Gonna do the silverware, gadget, mug, glasses and plates cupboards and see if I want more. Got a pale green and white check. Very muted.

Oh'smom-I kinda like ya so make that dam--d appt. please. Thaaank yooo! (like the closer show).

Howdy Val-kudos on the shopping, jealous on the hair and yea on the raise. So Sorry about your aunt.
Glad most things are going well.
Thank you regarding the mattress. It's like 3 ft. high to get into bed and it makes me giggle everytime. Plus some of my mysterious aches and pains seem to be subsiding (bed spring disease I think!)

Well also pray for my GF because her teahing contract will not be renewed. She is woking 11 hrs. a week at Curves now and finally got the approval for 3 area schools to sub. Less money but less hrs. too. She pays for the college too. One just graduated but one is still 1/2 way,one just started and one in high school.
Also my Ds is struggling in math. And she offered to tutor him free so she's a good friend. I will prob. give her something if he will go.

SM-glad you had fun. Can you swim at the lake lot?
Nice to hear from you. Hugs!

    Mails here. HappyHappy. BBL.

    Cool

Went to the S.A. and I found a tv stand but from Ethan Allen in oak for $19.99 but it was 33%off so around $16. I will use it for a table lamp in my bedroom as it matches my dresser and nightstand.
Also it was 25% for seniors 50 and up tonight only.lol I don't care how I get a discount just that I get one. Got new material for 25% off,a large new book bag, a soap stone ring box and a new bagel slicer for .99 in wood all at 25% off. So $34.
    Not too shabby.

Almost finished my 1st book in a long time. I think i rediscovered reading? I feel I deserve some play time.

oh'smom-So you are a dog sitter this week hmm. How do feel about slightly larger than normal dogs?lol

My parents gave ds10 an early birthday present which is pretty cool! They got him a 3 month kids' club membership to our local paint-your-own pottery place. He gets a t-shirt, unlimited studio time, and a discount on any pieces he chooses to do. I've never been there, but I think that you pick your piece, paint it, and they fire it for you and you go back and get it later. I'm excited to go with him and make something myself. My Mom took ds20 when he was little and they made me a frog holder thingie for my scrubbie in the kitchen and a Santa Claus teapot (cause I collect teapots).

Dear Aunt (the youngest of my Dad's siblings and the one I like to hang out with) lost her job this week. I haven't talked to her yet, but know that she's upset. Ds20 wants to quit his job 'cause the boss is slow to pay his employees and still owes him money and an ice cream scoop (he works for Cutco). I said "Well, don't quit until you get the rest of your pay and MY ice cream scoop!" His boss is rather slack and I hate that 'cause ds was so excited about this job at first. His boss kind of ruined it. I suspect he's young and stupid from the way he sounds on the phone. Also ds has started smoking again and I don't know where he thinks he's going to get money for cigs. I hate smoking and reminded him that his Aunt is dying of lung cancer from smoking her whole life! I also found out today that he dropped one of his two summer classes and my Mom can't get her money back. He's done that before too. Then he said that he'd probably fail the one class that he has left 'cause it's "too hard". He waits til right before class to do his homework! Idiot! I just wonder what he thinks he's going to do for the rest of his life. You all know that I quit doing his laundry. He's done it once. My Mom has come over here all of the other times and gathered up his dirty clothes from the floor, hamper, etc. and taken them to her house to wash and dry. So much for him learning to do his own.

Maui, I'm so glad that you weren't seriously hurt when you fell!

Well, I'll be back in the morning! Good night all!

Your family sure has had their share of trials and tribulations Valerian - hope things even out for everyone soon.

Because of was thinking of you Oh'smom - I actually waited on the phone for 15 minutes today - trying to make an appointment for a long overdue mammogram. Shall perservere - as I know you shall too!!

FW - you get the most wonderful deals!! Yes, I am definitely jealous!!

So - I called DH this morning to let him know I was a little sore, but other than that no serious injuries - and he had not realized that I fell fell - KWIM. Never should have even mentioned it this morning - poor guy - definitely has too much on his plate.

Took my friend to lunch after school - decided I needed to nap more than clean - so I did. Upon awakening, I did clear off the couch and put the offwhite slipcover on - looks great. Cleaned the MB vanity. Will be picking up about the LR this evening.

And so ends another day in paradise - and it really was beautiful. Have a great evening everyone!!

MM-up doing wash lol. I napped too long today and it has thrown me off. Glad it's only soreness. Dh is the king of the clueless too,he would have thought I tripped too.

You guys-now I remembered I am overdue for a colonoscopy. PFFT. It will wait a tad longer until I clear a bit more junk off my plate.

Forgot to say I bought 8 thick coke glasses at the Dollar store and they washed up so nice I will get 4 more tomorrow. I also got that shelf liner and cut 1 into place and it make a huge diff. in the look. I may get a couple more of those too. I decided to donate the old glasses to S.A. Better bleach the lime off so they will take them. It's pretty sad when your stuff you were just using isn't good enough for the Charity.HAHA.
If DH can get his new chair together this week I am going to curb the other one.
Here's a hoot. I just found the booklets to the washer and dryer (unopened) that we purchased 10 years ago that will go to the curb Sunday. Do ya know how many times poor DH downloaded the manual. Bad FW? Sorry I am laughing. Or it could be all the pot stench coming from next door? Hmm.
Well going to play games until 4:45 when the first wash is ready. BBl
