    Dean - I just LOVE that foot!!! Soo funny, he is just r.e.l.a.x.i.n.g.!!!! The shelves are going to hold so much for you and they look wonderful! Tell Dh he did a great job!

    Madhen - loved the blog...found it earlier and had to join. Angus is one of the cutest puppies I have ever seen! No wonder you are keeping him. Good luck with the blog, I am sure you will have many followers.

    Star - I am having the same problem! I am glad to know it isn't just me. Everytime I click to check a new post, I almost have enough time to pour myself another cup of tea in the kitchen! I hope they can figure out whats wrong soon and fix it.

    MH-I really like your blog. It is very imaginative. I wish I had the talent of Creative Writing, but alas, I made C's in English when I had to write.

    dean- Mr. Rio is too dang cute. He is just "chillin". I really like your shelves that your dh created. Especially around the window, l love the shelf under it. You can put some plants there so they can get some sun.

    This afternoon my dh and I put in the hoses and sprayers for our raised bed. Oh my, they work wonderful!! This contraption should allow us to cut back on the water usage. Which is a very, very big deal down here, especially in April and May. We are usually on water restrictions.

    I have something dwelling on my heart very bad. Makes me sad, but sometime soon I will share. Till then, I will just think.

    Happy New Year!! Sure took a while to catch up on this new thread!!.... and I am certainly not complaining!!

    I am sooooo glad that DH had wireless installed in the Kauai house, else I would never have been able to get caught up here!! His dear aunt just dropped by with a huge bag of peeled jabon (Japanese grapefruit - much sweeter and a more gentle taste!!) Poor dear has Alzheimers (which her own family is ignoring- another long story) - but for some reason she remembers that I love the jambon that she grows!! I am blessed!!

    Early night for me last night - but woke up around midnight to the sound of lots of rain and some fireworks. When I asked DH about the rain, he said it was fireworks that made that sound - it was lovely!!

    Spent some time this morning mending this for DMIL, crafting for Valentines Day and next Christmas - all of course while watching football - mahalo Patriots for stepping up to the plate and whopping the other team (don't want Buffalo fans to feel bad by naming the team)

    One major area that I want to address this year is my happiness factor - for many reasons I have not been happy for several years and I am going to work at changing my attitude so I can once again ride the wave of happiness regardless of what life is flinging my way!!

    Since my friend died in that boating accident on Thursday, my emotions have followed a roller coaster - even to visualizing his funeral which will be a total celebration of a wonderful life. Since there will be many children there as well as Hawaiian entertainers, I cannot help smiling about how wonderful the celebration will be.

    Seems as if death is going to play a more prominent role in our lives - at least for now. A young fisherman from Lahaina died yesterday in the water, but his name has not yet been released - our town is so small though, everyone knows everyone else or is related somehow. Then today I found out about the passing of a dear friend from NE - even if her illness was leading her down that path, it is still a loss for all who knew and loved her.

    Interesting way to start the New year - contemplative, peaceful - with DH and DMIL......and the sweetness of the Waimea winds as they blow crisp cool air from Kokee!!

    Haoli Makahiki Ho!!

    Maui, I have already made it be known to all my close friends and family that I expect my funeral to be a celebration of my life, not a dirge over my passing. I am even setting up my own "mixed tape" to play, to make sure people are smiling!!

    My friend who passed a few weeks ago owned a beer distributor, his wish was for a keg of beer to be served as his viewing. Everyone was served a dixie cup of beer to toast his life. Not his death. If you so wished, you could stay and go to the back room and partake in all the beer you wanted to drink. I didn't, but many did. I did drink the toast to him (beer just never tasted good to me). He was a wonderful guy and fought his leukemia for 15 years before the bone marrow transplant and then the heart attack.
    Maui-prayers and thoughts go out to you and to the families of all involved with the passings. So happy to hear you will be working on a happy you this year.
    madhen-may your celebration be postponed for many many years!

    Haoli Makahiki Ho, Maui

    I don't usually make New Year's resolutions but I've decided I'm going to work on achieving an internal locus of control. I'm calling it something I'm working on, not a resolution.

    I went to the local NYE dance last night. DH wasn't feeling well and decided to stay home. We actually had a live band this time which was great. Rhythm and blues, and we all know one of the bandmembers. I had a great time and stayed longer than I was originally going to, but I came home around 11pm. I don't like to be out on the road anywhere near midnight on 'amateur night'. And it was only about a mile away so it was a nice short drive.

    Today we're just hanging around the house in our pj's, DH watching football. He did go outside a little while ago and take down most of the xmas lights. We still have to take down the ones on the eaves of the roof.
    “When you get to the end of all the light you know
    and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
    faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
    you will be given something solid to stand on,
    or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller

    “Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
    there are signs that the world is speedily
    coming to an end;
    bribery and corruption are common; children no
    longer obey their parents;
    every man wants to write a book and the
    end of the world is evidently approaching.”
    — From a translation of an inscription on
    an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.

    God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
    courage to change the things I can,
    and the wisdom to know the difference

    Maui, sorry to hear of the passings of so many of those that are dear to you.

    Maui, good to hear that you will focus this year on a new happier self. We all need that. Myself included.

    MH, I agree with Dean, may your celebration of life be many, many years away.

    Well, off to take a quiet reprieve and nap if my body allows before dinner. I read so much of a book today, that now I am tired, plus I tried to stay awake until midnight. I almost made it, but not quite, so I am a little tired today.

    Oh What a Day. Not sure if it was a good day or a bad day, but since I break out in a laugh at the thought of the events, which at first were aggravating, it is good to find the humor in the bad I guess.

    I did make and extra $40 letting the pups out for my customer while they were fishing. Found another $100 in my dresser, which was a surprise, and started on this years coin jar.

    Had a late lunch/early dinner with a friend which was fun. Came home to a message on the land line from my ex-boyfriends parents so I was a little apprehensive about that but I called them back and they just wanted to make sure I had a Merry Christmas a Happy New Year. How sweet was that? However, it did throw me for a loop that they called since we are no longer together. I haven't met them because they live in another state, we have only talked on the phone a few times. They want to send me a check for a donation to the Tortoise Rescue I adopted my tortoise from and I thought that was really nice of them.

    Ironically, while I was talking to them a text message pops in from their Him wanting to know where I want a yard tool sent that he has denied having for three weeks. Didn't answer it and not going to. His parents and I decided that he took things that belonged to me, and left a few of his things here, as a reason to keep in touch. Sorry buster, the drama is at the theatre, not here. Friend told me that he posted the Eagles song "Already Gone" on his Facebook page and said it was
    "for a person who was all alone on New Years, how is that working for ya" Sorry but I think its hilarious, since he posted at right after midnight, obviously while he was alone LOL

    Not sure what to think about these events, but definitely not going to think about them tonight. Tomorrow is another day, and a work day at that, what a wonderful thing !!

    Cheryl - seems like such a strange thing to be working on when it is January 1st!! Water sprinklers??!!! I can't even concieve the idea of gardening just yet especially when there is a mini blizzard outside my window. I am glad they work so well for you though!

    Maui - may you have a wonderful visit and may you find the inner happiness you seek.

    Madhen - may it be many years before that celebration!

    Dean - what a nice gesture....your friend obviously wanted a celebration of his life not sorrow with his passing.

    star - sounds like a fun time last night and a relaxing day today....what a great way to start off the new year.

    Been organizing all day and keeping myself busy. Quite enjoying myself.
