I'm getting better on my eating I think, haven't lost any weight yet, but this morning my fasting BS was 98, so that is doing well.

Having tilapia, baked potatoes, and a vegie for supper tonight. Lunch was chicken & noodles.

I am having a pretty good eating day. Breakfast was a bowl of multigrain peanut butter cheerios, skim milk, coffee. Lunch was a bowl of vegetable soup with a little bit of mozzarella cheese on top for some protein, dinner is leftover chicken breast and potatoes and green beans. I do not know what my bedtime snack will be, but hopefully not a calorie breaker.

That's amazing ShadowMom!! WTG!!! I can't remember the last time my BS was that low. Woo Hoo!!!!

Sounds like you're on the right track.

I made 5 pounds of spicy oven "fried" potatoes tonight. I'm hoping they cool down before DH comes back. I want to pack what was not eaten into 4 containers and put in fridge to eat with other meals. A heat to eat side dish ready and waiting. If my DH sees them he'll want to sit down with the 4+ pounds with a fork and I'll have to be mean food police lady. Potatoes are A) Crazy bad on BS, and B) Crazy expensive. There's just no way on God's green earth that I'd let him eat $4 worth of potatoes in one sitting!

But you will notice ladies, I oven "fried" AND I did not add salt!

I also ate stir fried cabbage Give me a break please. I just can't do plain steamed cabbage. I need to gook it up a bit. Besides, I'm not fat phobic, the bacon fat attest to that. I've just had more fat than I would like recently. No salt on the cabbage But I'm sure I still had more than enough sodium in the ketchup.

Ending the day with supplements and Asthma meds. No sugar today except in hot tea. Going to try and get more water in before bed.

Imagine, you are doing awesome. Well everyone is!

Polly, yeah, don't tell your dh. And please take care of you. And don't make me puke with the organ meat talk.

Dh's grandma died around 6am this morning, so not much sleep and that kind of day with family. She was 99 and she would have turned 100 this Friday and we had a big birthday party planned for her. Instead, now her funeral is Friday. I was glad he and my step-daughter was able to spend time with her yesterday and Saturday night. It sorta happened fast.

Well I should probably get some sleep on that note!

    Take care everyone.

Oh Palooka, I'm sorry. I'm glad to hear that your DH and SD were able to have that time with DG also. All too often in life we don't get that chance. It's truly a blessing when you do. Prayers for your family tonight my friend.

Last night for my snack, I had broccoli with cheese sauce. Except for the cheese calories, not too bad.

Thought I would share a favorite link with you that I use for better health decisions

It is a nutrient data base

You type a item in the search and it find the information about it

how many calories, how much water, salt, sugars, protein and the vitamins in the item to name a few.

I like this one because I use non processed foods a lot and you can look up an orange, or venison meat, or an apple.

you can also pick the amount of the item.

I like it. It is useful to me

Started the day a little rocky. I nuked some bacon up, because I ran out chicken and needed something to hide my dog's pills in. Since the bacon was frozen, it was easier to nuke the whole package and just keep the cooked bacon in the fridge. Well, of course, I can't just walk away from cooked bacon. So, over the course of the morning, I had three slices.

On the plus side, however, I went grocery shopping today, and I stocked up on fruit. I have veggies in the fridge, and I am going to try to consciously eat more produce. I'm not a big meat eater, which pretty much means I eat starches all day long!

So, except for my bacon collapse, the rest of the day has been good. I had my usual coffee in the morning (which I'll quit when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers), but I followed it up with a small soymilk/banana smoothie, and I used THAT to take my multi-vitamins. Thinking about lunch now....

Mmmm....Bacon. I heart bacon. LOL I think you did pretty well on the bacon front Madhen, I think I'd had at least 6! I've heard lots of good things about coffee, and I'm banking on it since I feel exactly the same as you.

to all on the Better Health thread

I've got a big pot of chicken pot pie filling on the stove, a big pot of vegetable hamburger stew on the stove, and a crock of navy beans going. I plan on adding some pureed beans to the chicken pot pie filling, and whole navy beans to the vegetable hamburger stew. Both have very little protein in them only a pound of meat each for massive pots. I'll bet I'll get 20 pies out of the chicken pot pie filling. So I really need to add extra protein so it's filling, and healthy.

My "new" favourite toy. It is actually several months old, but I never got to try it out until now. I toss in a banana and a few ounces of soymilk, hit a button, and in about 10 seconds, SMOOTHIE!! The container then comes right off and is the glass that you drink it out of. No muss, no fuss. You just put some water in it, a squirt of d/w liquid, put the top on and give it a shake, and it is clean and ready for the next use!

Looking forward to trying it out with fruit juice smoothies down the road, but for now, I am loving my banana/choc soymilk smoothie, with no blender to have to take apart and clean afterward!
