Polly - just wondering - does the flavour actually permeate through the skin? Usually we peel off the skin when we eat the chicken...wondering if the meat retains any ranch flavouring?

Libby, I don't know. I posted it in this forum because the other thread was for tried recipes. I plan on lifting the skin up off the chicken and rubbing the seasoning underneath and on top of the skin. I also thought I'd put it on a rack of some sort, so the chicken does not boil in its own juices. Maybe I'll use whole potatoes as the rack? I'm trying to stay away from carby things, but everyone else in my house can eat them.

Do you think I could leave out the foil?

Also, how would it work if I cooked it on low and put in a frozen chicken? Any ideas?

polly - I hope to try this next week sometime. Last rotisserie chicken recipe I made was from here at the village. I used a rack to raise the bird up off the bottom so the grease would be away from the bird.

Joseph: The other tip I received was spray the crock with Pam for easy clean up, I think I'll try that vs using foil.

Where did you find a rack to fit inside a crock pot?
